Hi all
Today I saw a post where someone shared the performance of his Macbook Air (2013), so I thought that I could do the same for my Macbook Pro 13" (2011).
First the specs of my Macbook Pro:
- Processor: 2.7GHz i7 Sandy Bridge
- Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
- Memory: 6GB 1333MHz DDR3
- OS X: Mountain Lion 10.8.4
- Client: The one for Macintosh
- Year: Early 2011
For my video settings, I started with ‘Best Performance’ and changed some settings to see if it effected my FPS much. I ended with these settings (see picture).
So… In a place where no people are, my FPS is about 27. When in combat, it drops slightly to 20’ish. Not bad I guess :)
In a place where a lot of people are, my FPS is about 15, which is not great, but playable in my opinion…
Overall, I think this is very playable with the settings I have… If I reduce the setting of Rendering Sampling from Native to Subsample, the FPS is way higher. But I prefer to play it with Native ;)
I hope this helps someone who has an older Macbook Pro or something like that ;)
Edit_1: Darn those typos!
Edit_2: Added spec graphics card

Okay!
It’s been a while and I’ve tried some other settings too! Here are my new settings. Some world bosses are playable without dropping FPS, others are less playable :)
I now play in Window Mode in a lower resolution, but FYI, this doesn’t affect the FPS (I just want to play in Window Mode for other purposes :p)
As you can see from my first post, the FPS isn’t changed THAT much! AND, it’s more enjoyable to play the game :)
Let me know what you think ;)
you use the same settings as mine.
but if you have the chance to see how the game run in a proper modern pc which cost way less than a mac, you can be shocked!
that is my only gripe with mac, you pay that much money for a crunched apple on the back of your laptop, but you are meant to use it only to play with facebook

Most of us buy Macs for other reasons, Audio/Video, Dev work, etc. It’s just a perk that they play games. Yes a PC is cheaper but a PC doesn’t do what I need so it is useless to me.

I bought my Mac for video and audio editing as well for developing iOS apps
I also have a Windows machine, but it’s outdated and wont play GW2 very well.
Another great thing on the Mac is the Terminal It’s always fun to play with it (Linux has Terminal too)
i bought my mac for music composition, i know mac has a name also for rendering and video editing, but so far i was proven that pc can do the same and in some aspects they are definitely better, other than cheaper.
the only real difference is speed and i never have to bother with viruses but other wise at least for me it was a waste of money for a brand

Totally agree :D
I really like the operating system. IF you know how to work with Terminal, it’s way better than windows (which has command prompt). Not that I’m saying Mac OS X is only good if you know how to work with Terminal :p It has so many useful apps and the things that work so well together :)
If it only were for Terminal, I could use Linux on a cheap PC, but there are so many other factors that are way better than a Windows PC to me as a developer :)
Don’t get me wrong. I use both Windows and Mac OS X ;)
