I had to turn all of my settings to low in order to get a half-decent framerate. Could be a coincidence with something going on with my system, but I was getting decent fps earlier in the day.

Running latest Mountain Lion on Retina MacBook Pro with 16 GB RAM.

Anyone else see anything change this evening?

Yeah, my fps have completely tanked since the oct26 build. I was getting a very playable 31-32 fps, now a ridiculous 4-10. I am on a 2010 macbook pro with 8gb ram 10.6.8 (Yeah, not supported, but played the game perfectly fine before the update)

About the same for me: I was getting around 30 fps with a mid-range resolution and most things set to High, which dropped to about 6 fps after the update. By turning everything to Low and turning off anti-aliasing, I got things back up to 15 fps or so, but it’s really bad. In town it was so slow that I could barely go up a tower’s stairs.

Unfortunately I think SOME of this is down to the really high amounts of server traffic because of everyone coming back to do Halloween.
But yeah, they’ve definitely altered some settings for the not so good…

If you want a solution that might help a bit>>
Open Finder and go to your user directory (It will be your name)>>Hold down alt and click “Go” in the menu bar>>Click Library (it only shows up if you hold alt)>>Application Support>>Guild Wars 2>>There is a file called “Config” make a copy of it and rename it “Config.copy” (You can rename it if something goes wrong)>>Open the “Config” file>>Command + F>>Type MTD3D>>It should find the line for you, it has a value of 4>>Change the value to 0>>Save the config file

That should restore some of your performance. Before the newest updates the value was set to 0, but they boosted it to 4 because it is supposed to increase visuals. Although personally I’ve switched between them and noticed almost no difference whatsoever, it just kills performance.

Hope that helps you guys!

I have only framerate drops on iMac from 2011 in Lion’s Archs (obviously because of event). My 55 fps goes down to 15 fps with all settings on Medium. Outside of LA almost no framerate drops.

I just edited the config file and with the same settings as I was achieving 25 fps or so, I suddenly jumped to over 50 fps. I reset most things back to Medium, and am still getting 40+ fps. (I left the screen resolution at the lower setting, since it seems to work out well and I like the additional performance and the room for slowdown in chaotic fights or Halloween events.)

Started playing gw2 about a month ago and have experienced absolutely no issues whatsoever! The last couple of days, however, are another story. I am lucky to reach 10fps, playing under OS X or Windows 7. I play with all the setting on maximum. Changing to the “best performance” profile makes little to no difference. Please help. All other games play perfectly fine.

I have no idea if the October update from the 26th is the culprit considering the game plays horribly under both OS’s.

Thank you!

They aren’t going to release a native client. I’m quite certain they just don’t have the human resources to dedicate to coding a completely native client. Especially consider that this transgaming cider client actually works really really well on macs that meet the requirements.

GW2 makes heavy use of GPU and CPU so yes updating your graphics card will make a difference, but the simple matter of the fact is that if you don’t have an i5 or i7 processor then your’re probably going to run into issues.

If you can run the game on Snow Leopard then that is great, do it. The only reason they don’t support Snow Leopard is because Apple only support their latest two releases, which are Lion and Mountain Lion, so they aren’t going to put even more resource in trying to ensure it runs on an outdated OS.

Then I need to give up cuz I run at 3 to 5 fps regardless if there not going to make a native Mac then there is no point to play this game anymore on my Mac, it saddens me I’m forced to buy a new mac really sad.
