As far as I am concerned my system requirements should be enough to run the game on minimal settings. But I get <20 fps no matter what the settings are. Can anyone help me please?

Guild Wars 2 makes heavy use of the GPU and CPU. You’re using an integrated intel graphics card, so unfortunately performance isn’t going to be that great.

I can run at 50fps but ONLY if I turn everything off and everything down. And this is on an i7 3.08 ghz with a GTX 580 and 24 gigs ram. The client still needs work. I had hoped for a native client and not a wrapper, but it is what it is and we’re lucky they’ve put a few devs on giving us this. This brings me one step closer to not having to go back to Windows.

Sadly the 13 inch Pro models are the only Pro models that only use integrated graphics. If anyone wants to do serious gaming on Macs, they should look at the 15 inch models or the iMacs to take advantage of dedicated cards, and try to get the 1GB version (or better).

The 13 inch MacBook Air with the same integrated graphics card will outperform the Pro in games, though they’ll get pretty hot.

This sounds like another issue.

I have an i7 + an OC’ed 6850 (aka 6970M) and manage 50 FPS with most settings on medium, and shadows low, at 2560×1440. I can turn most settings up a notch when running under Windows (via Bootcamp).

I don’t think he’s running a Mac… not familiar with any model that sports his combination of components… not to mention 24 gigs of RAM is a strange combination and wouldn’t be paired (and that leads to performance issues). I’d have said this sounds like a Mac Pro but the i7 processor threw that possibility out the window…

What machine is that? Are you running a Hackintosh?

I’m using a 13" Macbook Pro and it was running at 20-25 FPS until the recent update. The whole of today, I’ve been experiencing around 15 FPS (max) and a little lagging. Hopefully it gets better.

Also, my boyfriend tried to play GW2 on his iMac but for some reason it was running below 20 FPS with any settings. I don’t have the specific details of his iMac but it is definitely better than my 13" Macbook Pro!

It would be a good question to ask about his graphics card and how much RAM his iMac has

I’m on a Mac Pro (the tower) with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 and I’ve Bootcamped my machine. There is a significant difference in performance between each version of the game. On OSX, my game barely surpasses 36 FPS (down to 21 during most encounters). On Windows 7, my frame rate is consistent upwards of 50 FPS. This is most likely due to the Cider wrap Guild Wars 2’s Mac client uses to convert DirectX graphics to OpenGL.

see the strange thing is ive been playing with about 10 fps for a while now on my 2010 mbp and last night i logged on the game updated and suddenly i had 50+ fps on low settings so to test it i cranked the graphics up all the way and still had 25. i switched characters and im back down to 10 and cant get it back…. i want it back kitten /p>

I’m still getting 35-42 fps in high stress areas (PvP, busy city areas, WvW) on my 13" mbp which is adequate for my play style.

Today I tried WvW. On a heavy fight it started to lag. But on fights with a few people there is no problem.
I have all on low, running it on a 17" MBP 2010. I had to reduce screen resolution down to 1600×1000. Runs ok so.
Of course, I’d like to see a bit more graphics. It’s a bit ugly that way. Unfortunately. – The game makes lot of fun…

Don’t know how Blizzard can make it. WoW is on 1900×1200 with full details and on 25 raids with no problems. With the same MBP.
I know GW2 depends on Cider. But on Bootcamp there is no real increase of performance. Perhaps 10%fps more. – With 20fps this is not so much.

I think, this client needs much more tweaking. — Swtor had this problem, too. They where able to fix it and the performance, so I hope (really!), this game will increase performance, too.
