Windowed mode issue
I would love the title bar to be gone behind the client but pops on top when I click on one of the other screens(like in windows).
I am having the same issue with the bottom of the screen getting chopped off while in windowed mode. Otherwise, performance is great (MBP early 2011) and I’ll gladly play on the Mac client once this problem is resolved
Add me to the list of folks with this issue. Bottom of the screen gets clipped.
Running in windowed mode on Windows (bootcamp) – no such clipping.
It is quite severe – clipping the entire size of the login button – on the character select panel, the frame ends at the bottom of the character icon boxes.

I also run multiple monitors and have encountered this issue. I noticed that the windowed full screen option isn’t available in the Mac client. I’ve been running the game using Wine, which allows you to set a custom resolution for the game. Anyone know if there is a way to set a custom resolution in this beta client?
I have the same issue with Windowed Mode running on a 21.5’’ iMac (2011).
I have same issue 27" iMac, windowed mode res 2560×1440 bottom clipped! Resize window not available.
Windowed full screen is an option only available in Windows. MacOS just doesnt do it. Eve has the same issue as it uses Cider for the Mac Client as well and there is no easy work around other than to run in a window smaller than your desktop. Some eve players found a way to use another program to customise their display sizes to allow for the menu bar but it was still a bit hit and miss.
This is rather unfortunate and seems to be another issue of running a port instead of a native client. I have a 27" iMac with a Thunderbolt Display connected. On the Windows side, I can run Windowed-Fullscreen @ 2560×1440 no problem; however, in Mac I cannot.
There’s no legitimate excuse for this as WoW could do it with their native Mac client. So.. either ArenaNet or Transgaming needs this fixed.
I also have this issue. 1900×1200 is too small (yes, I am so spoiled) but 2560×1440 runs off the bottom of the screen thanks to the OSX bar at the top.
Have the same problem, running two screens with Mumble and a browser on one screen and the game on the 27" iMac one.
Would love a windowed full screen mode. So that it actually acts as a full screen mode but with the second screen lit up. And also would like for it to not allow the mouse to move to the second screen when playing on the mac.
Darn, so we’re forced to play full screen? I really prefer playing in windowed mode.
Windowed full screen is an option only available in Windows. MacOS just doesnt do it.
This is false. Diablo III does it just fine.

WoW also does windowed fullscreen mode just fine.
+1 for the windowed fullscreen request. I really dislike windowed mode and I need my second monitor while in-game.
yep, same issue here, i just gave up and ran full screen mode. i tried my damnedest to get the menu bar to move up off screen but it always shot back down, frustrating.
Same here, current 27" iMac with dual monitors, Windowed mode clips the display – no option right now other than go fullscreen and use my second monitor as a paperweight…
I am also having the issue with the bottom portion of the window being clipped (the experience bar and below) when in windowed mode. My resolution for windowed mode is 1680×1050. This is not an issue in full-screen mode or when in windowed-mode in Bootcamp.
If possible, would be nice to resize the window myself (drag-drop) or offer resolutions with other aspect ratio, 4:3 or 5:4 as well.

Diablo 3 and WoW aren’t running through Transgaming’s Cider wrapper.

Not really relevant unless you can cite Cider’s or Cedega’s innate inability to run windowed fullscreen. The original quote was:
Windowed full screen is an option only available in Windows. MacOS just doesnt do it.
Which is incorrect. OS X does not prevent windowed fullscreen mode.

Any news on this Anet? It’s still bugging me to have an expensive Cinema Display providing nothing other than a shiny black reflective surface?

While it’s not ideal if you want dual display, if you want to play on the Cinema Display closed clamshell mode should work. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131
It is interesting to note that crossover (also wine based, like cider) supports “full screen windowed mode” on many directx games just fine. It removes the normal window frame completely, keeps the menu bar visible and adjusts the monitor resolution accordingly to account for it.
Unfortunately, the latest version of crossover is in a “known not to work” state, although some do have it running with a special build it still has problems. http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=7951
For now, full screen mac client is the only option an performance wise its pretty close to running gw2 in native windows mode.
The only problems I’m seeing relate to the mouse (sometimes panning does not work correctly, and sensitivity is a problem especially if you also run the windows version as it seems most settings are retained on the server instead of client) and keyboard (keys tend to get “stuck” down for some reason and you have to press them again to get the release).

Just got the game a few days ago. MacBook Retina. When I place it in Windowed Mode I cannot drag the lower right to resize and my window cutting off my level and XP bar.
I have kinda the same issue: i don’t like playing in fullscreen mode but i can’t resize the window in windowed mode on Mac OS X.
My friend play on linux with wine and he can resize the window!
Will we see any improvement about this problem ?
Same problem here ! Kind of annoying, I have to admit.
I just wanted to chime in and say I’m having the same issue. WoW runs beautifully in a “desktop” fullscreen mode which allows me to use the Mission Control gestures to swipe between it and other apps/windows/desktops. If you guys could get this going in GW2 on the Mac it’d be heavenly. Thanks!
I don’t understand why some people think they’re going to run the game in a high-resolution window plus have room on their screen for the window title bar and OS X menu bar. This is really simple math: there are only so many pixels on your screen.
If you’re playing the game in a window at a resolution which is too large for your screen, choose a smaller window resolution!
In the game, selection Options, then the Graphics tab. From the Resolution selection menu, choose a size with the same width as your screen but smaller height. For most 16:9 ratio flatscreen displays, try 1920 × 1080. (That’s the resolution of “high definition” in the TV world.)

Because you can do exactly that in Windows, with plenty of room for the start menu bar and the client’s window frame.

I just wanted to add my voice to this thread as I’m having the exact same problem as everybody else with my second monitor rendered useless while in game. A quick fix to this would be very appreciated.
Would love a “windowed full screen” mode as well. I hate being stuck in the game without me being able to change itunes easily for instance, or check on a download or watch a website.
Want this feature too, but they stopped helping mac people since they got all the money out of us they could get.
You guys know that if you’re playing in full screen mode that you can use command+tab to switch running applications, or even just to desktop?

Yes, but I’d like to have a guide on the left screen and guild wars 2 on the right screen.
Because of this issue, I am only able to see the guide or play guild wars. Not both at the same time.
I’ll ask my hubs if his system is the same, he sometimes uses 2 displays in his office. I do know that for dual screens, you have to set one as main and that is the one gw2 runs on (because of the menu bar etc). But I’ll check and see if his 2nd display goes black while playing.
any solution in the meantime on this issue? :-/
socking,
I’m new to GW2 and supprised at this, However at the same time I wasn’t aware this game was a port. If I knew this I would of passed on it.
This is the problem with game developer just deciceding to add Mac support with a port. Games need to be designed with crossplatform in mind and it’s safe to say GW2 was not. Because of this they rely on cider for fix’s and a smoth game play.. I wish I would of known before buying. I do not want to support game developers who are doing this.
