Hi I am new to the forums I don’t know if this topic should be placed here but here goes nothing. I am not a guy that goes crazy if a game has bad graphics I don’t mind but I wanna see if anyone has compared how gw2 looks (graphics wise) from the mac to the windows version. I don’t think it looks that bad on my 15"in macbook but neither do I think it looks amazing like it would on a pc. So if anyone can please take a screen shot of how the game looks like on a mac and then how it looks like on a pc like a comparision.

I mean I don’t really know but I think the game looks stunning on my rMBP but that is to be expected. Here are a few screens to prove my point…

I don’t have any screens from pc available (or any atm), but I can tell you that a 15" MBP doesn’t even compare to the 15" MBPr. I run on medium settings and get about 30fps, and between 10-20 during heavily populated encounters. The MBPr gets ~60 fps on high settings, stunning! Also, the vistas on the MBP stutter many times while they do not on the MBPr (99% of the time). Now comparing the MBPr to a pc with comparable vid card (MBPr has mobile version of course), the graphics can be played on the highest settings while still getting over 60fps and zero stutter on vistas.

The pc client is snappier as well due to the fact that the Mac client is a beta version run using the cider wrapper… This is like a program running a program.

All that being said, I have minimal issues running the Mac client on a 15" MBP late 2011. It’s not as pretty as an MBPr or a pc, it’s not as fast, but it plays well enough to enjoy the game most times! And I still think it looks pretty on medium, just not as pretty as he others.

(I have 3 computers running gw2 at home… 15" MBP late 2011, 15" MBPr 2012, and a pc that is currently about 1 year old (little less))

If you have the graphics settings on the same sliders it looks identical on windows and OSX (on the same system).
So if I play GW2 in OSX it looks exactly the same as it does if I then play it in Bootcamp with the same settings ticked.
A few notes – I can actually bump the settings a bit higher when playing it on mac without losing frame rate. But the fans run much hotter and louder (because it is a cider port so the computer has to do more work in OSX).

Long story short, if you can play it in bootcamp then do, but you won’t have any problems playing it in OSX.
I have a 2011 15’ Macbook Pro with 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 6750M and a core i7 2.2Ghz processor. Which lets me play with all settings on max just fine. (But I usually turn shadows and shader down a little because it performs better and isn’t quite as loud).
