hi guys, i was wondering wich graphic resolution can i use to still enjoy the beautiful environment but not experience bad lag?
if i choose the autodetect everything goes on low qulity with no post processing, but if i choose best appereance it all goes to lag and fall in fps to 1.
anyway i never had more than 14 fps even on best performance, although in a range of 10-14 fps the game doesn’t lag so bad. i noticed a huge difference when i played in a real pc with good graphic card and since than i feel so disappointed with my mac…
what do you use?
this is my system
mac book pro 13 end 2011
processor 2.4 Ghz Intel Core I5
memory 4gb 1333 MHz DDR3
graphic ntel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
p.s. right now i’m using a custom graphic setting with high post processing and it kinda work well with no lag

Well unfortunately you’re using a 13" Mac with an integrated Intel graphics card, so performance isn’t going to be great.
I would suggest you turn the Shader, Shadows and Post Processing to their lowest possible settings and make sure that you don’t have Distance Blur, Best Texture Filtering or Vertical Sync ticked because they will all slow down your performance. With that you might be able to have everything else on mid settings without having too bad performance. Putting the Sampling to Native will be the best for visual quality, if you put it to sub-sampling the game won’t look very good, but will perform a lot better. I would suggest using the next resolution down from your nature resolution, anything lower might make it hard to play and playing at native resolution might be too much of a hit to your performance.
The best thing I can suggest is just to fiddle around with the settings until you find something that works for you. Make sure you aren’t testing in Lions Arch or any other crowded areas because the FPS will be low in those areas regardless.
thank you very much, i will give it a shot
You can upgrade to 8GB RAM and that will increased the VRAM to 512 on the Intel 3000. Pretty sure the 4000 runs 512 regardless but if not someone please correct me.
Actually upgrading your RAM will have little effect. Guild wars is only 32 bit. It can’t use more than 3GB, increasing your ram would let you do other things at the same time, but the effect on GW would be neglegible
Foxx, you missed the point I was making. It had nothing to do with the application but rather that going to 8GB of RAM would increase the amount of VRAM for the Intel Integraded Video Card because it shares its VRAM with RAM.

My bad.
