problem with frame rate in my imac i5
The low frames are due to the most recent patch. I’m not sure about your other issue but I don’t think you’re supposed to delete the entire GW2 folder in Application Support, but I could be wrong here. Like I said, I’m not sure.
See this thread about the frames issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/FPS-DROP-WITH-PATCH/page/1
i had this problem before last patch… i never go up to 20 fps with low graphic options…
if you had the problem before the patch on the 4th, then there is no way you’d notice an increase right now due to Anet’s optimization bug.
As bizarre as it may seem, your computer looks like it may be barely strong enough to play GW2. people have reported slightly higher fps using bootcamp on the same machine. deleting preferences and stuff like that can sometimes fix bugs such as the TP not working, but they tend not to help for performance issues.
right now may not be the best time to try and fiddle with it, as you’d never know if you actually did any good.
again, Anet changed something that made all macs have orders of magnitude less fps than they should. basically, what used to drop fps from 40 to 30 now drops it down to 3.

hi guys..
i have last imac model with 8gb ram, i5 processor and nvidia 650 512mb.
i have low fps under osx (18 fps lions arch and 30 in other game zone without many people)…
i tryed reset vram and smc but nothing… when i try to delete “guild wars 2” folder in application support, the game client don’t start…i don’t understand this…
any solution? tnx
i have same iMac and I’m getting HUGE fps drops during group events like world boss hunting, WvW, EOTM…(below 10)
I used to play on an iMac from 2009 (I think it had an 8400 in it and a 3Ghz Core2Duo) and it played fine. This iMac should play it just fine, it’s strange that the performance is that abysmal though.
is there any method for disable the software that cause a low frame rate?
Make sure no other apps are running when you want to play GW2. Other than that, there is no ‘software that causes low framerate’, so there’s nothing you can disable to improve it.
There are two different problems at work here:
1. Since the last patch, performance has gone down for everyone playing GW2 on OSX. This is a problem with the game, not with peoples hardware or software.
2. If you had this problems before the patch already, you may have another issue on top of that. Please note though that 20 to 30 FPS is not all that unusual for a baseline iMac.
