Hi, i got a 1 week ban for verbal abuses, is my 2nd offence, first was a few hours ban. How can i get a whole week ban for saying the F word a couple of times? what next, a month? permanent? my head on a stick? :S

1. It’s in the forum TOS that you are not to discuss administrative actions.
2. Maybe stop swearing? Just because there is a filter doesn’t give you permission to drop f-bombs all over the place.

Why would there be a next? Surely this is now really easy to avoid a 3rd ban?

Ya. When someone say something like that on the forum, it’s usually not the whole truth. I don’t think that Anet banned someone because he used the F word. There is a option to censure these kind of word, like on the forum (but on the forum you can’t uncheck it).

Verbal abuse usually mean you attacked someone over the chat.

There is a difference between. ‘’Ah kitten, this isn’t fun’’ and ‘’Shut yup you kitten’‘. They both use a vulgar word, but one isn’t verbal abuse.

How difficult is it to not swear? Its text, not like it can accidentally slip out, you have to put it in there on purpose.

Well, if there is a 2nd offence than u didnt learn, that is obvious, and you get mute for a few hours or ban 1-2 days on other games, but 1 week?

This topic is not about what word i have used or how many times, if u want to talk about that pls create your own topic, is about the ban which is totally ridiculous, i have spend a lot of money on gems since i have bought the game a few months back, i wonder if it worth it or if i will get a permanent ban on the next F word.

I’m going to agree with others here and say that it was directed at other players rather than just casual swearing. Also, which “f word” was it? Because that matters greatly as to whether or not your ban is due to using a prejudicial slur that is meant to demean and oppress a group of people unjustly.

If you get reported by 1 person and you have broken the ToS, you will be punished.
If you get reported by 150 people and have not broken the ToS you will not be punished.

Oh, so if i dont like a guild and i use the F word than i get more ban than if i hate a person?

Usually most 40 years old fat guys have women characters, how can i direct the F word to a sex as long as most users have females characters but in real life they are not and there is no way to know to what sex the users belong to. This is available for the race too, if i use a Asura that doesnt mean than i am Chinese.

And is a group more important than a individual? if i get mistreated i dont really care if there where some other people mistreated from the same reason, even though we all belong to the group mistreated from the same reason.

From my experience with these types of threads when Anet does respond it usually is revealed that the person in question did much more than drop a few curse words.

As for the length of the suspension they increase each time someone has violated ToS and can eventually lead to a permanent ban.

I have noticed that, from a few hours to a week, LOL, but thanks for telling me that, LOL. Just to be clear, on my first ban i got a few hours, on my 2nd i got 1 week.

So what’s your question? Why did it go from a few hours to a week? Because that is the way Anet decided to punish repeat offenders. I’ve never heard of a few hour suspension that must be somewhat new. It is usually 72 hours (3 days) for a first offense.

If you disagree with the length your suspension you can always submit a support ticket.

Anyway, hopefully you have learned your lesson so as to avoid even longer suspensions in the future.

well, yea, first was probably 12 hours or 24 but not more, so i didnt even noticed. OFC i dont want a permanent ban but i have heard about so many accounts terminated without a good reason, i didnt knew what to think. Anyway, i will do my best to behave.

Ok, good to know, getting a 7 days ban (and almost a permanent ban) for no good reason, just as i thought. So no more gems for me.

Is harder than you think, the mystery is getting deeper and deeper :P. Some people think that they know and some people find answers. I guess what i have to do now is to use the F word again to see what it will happen, will you be the vic… PARTNER of my test after 1 week?

If you really want an answer, submit a ticket. Though it’s also extremely possible that you had multiple instances since your original ban of the few hours that they just decided to not give you a small one and increase it because you didn’t learn you lesson.

It’s really quite simple. Turn off all chats but your guild chat if you can’t be nice. You obviously didn’t drop just a couple “f bombs” if you got suspended once already and now have a week long suspension.
