I did the 10.8.3 update and there was a retina Macbook fix I did as well. My retina MBP seems to be running much cooler in GW2 than before – a step in the right direction!

Curious if other are noticing the same on retina or other macs? Has anybody done before/after frame rates?

Tried on iMac 27’’ (mid 2010)

fps in 10.8.2 ~ 23 – 40 (GW 2: 16,845 build)
fps in 10.8.3 ~ 49 – 69 (current)

But thats with 1280×720 windowed:
Settings:
High
None
High

Terrian & Sky
Medium
Native

Gonna try it on my rMBP tonight and see how it goes.. so i can finally ditch bootcamp all together.

Btw: whats the graphic settings you use for your rMBP?

Eek.. the same settings above gives 26~ 30 fps on rMBP, and thats with SMC version 2.3f35 (suppose to improve games underload for the rMBP)
So my conclusion is this (although im not a technical person and could get this wrong):
GPU makes no difference, only higher clockspeed on CPU makes any difference.. Since my sandy bridge iMac has a higher clockspeed performs better then my ivy bridge rMBP.. but there is slight improvement thou.

Generally speaking, that’s correct. The performance relies more on the single-thread performance of the CPU than the GPU.

Yes for me it did. I have an AMD GPU in my Macbook.

Apple updated the amd graphic drivers and I noticed an increase in FPS after the update.

For other games, where I use wine I normally had to use an “AMDSpeedHack” fix, but this fix was no longer needed after the update
