Hi guys,

I’m having some real trouble with the FPS in the game and I’ve exhausted all I can find online. (Perhaps I’ve missed something somewhere, so if I have, I apologise.)

I have the game set to the ‘Best Appearance’ preset in the graphics options, and I’m getting (at best) 15fps, and less in cities and such. FPS is not an issue in other games I’ve also been playing maxed out (Fallout 4, Wildstar, Battlefront).

Here are my specs:
i7-4770k (OCed to 4.4ghz – stable) (I’ve tried playing with factory clock speeds, no difference)
AMD 7970
8gb RAM
480gb SSD

And I’m running on a resolution of 1920 × 1080 but I’ve also tried turning this down to no avail.

I expected to see a playable FPS with the Best Appearance pre-set, but I can’t get my FPS above 30-35 with the absolute lowest settings, which is clearly not good.

I’m not by any means a tech wizard, but it seems unlikely it’s anything to do with my hardware, so am I missing a trick somewhere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’m very eager to dig into HoT.

Thank you!

Jack

Just checked with GPU-Z, it is using that.

I’ve also noticed only one core seems to really be getting utilised?

In a i7 you should see 2 threads being used around 70-90% with others at 30-70%. There’s clearly something not working well. Try a few things:
- Repair the gw2 client.
- Close all other useless software (mouse/keyboard client, p2p, spotify/itunes…).
- Put gw2 priority to high or real time.
- Reinstall graphic drivers (use ddu to uninstall), or try older drivers.
- Re-seat the ram and make sure it is not faulty.

Make sure you plug the monitor into your external AMD card and not into the internal one that is provided on the mainboard backplane.

Well, I tried all the above with no difference, with the exception of the ram. I opened up the case, removed and replaced it, and now it’s all running smooth as a dream. Lowest FPS is 30 in densely populated areas with everything on the highest possible setting.

Thanks for the help guys!
