I’m looking at my first homebuilt, since the specs I want put a prebuilt out of my price range. Are there any glaring issues with this build? Anything that would be better without adding cost or anywhere I could cut back?
Ideally wanting a box that can run ~max settings @60 fps most of the time, and >30fps in high demand areas. (i.e. would like 60 for tooling around Caledon, but no less than 30 around LA, WvWvW, etc.) Trying to stay as close to $800US as possible. I’ve also looked at this prebuilt:
which has the same CPU/GPU, but lacks the SSD and has an unknown MOBO. Thoughts?
The spec You posted is totaly good/fine.
Just OC CPU to 4,5ghz on air cooling and Youll be fine.

I would recommend changing the CPU cooler to a Coolmaster Evo 212, or going fullhog and getting a Noctua NH-D14, most cooler between or below those two are not really worth it. Specialy most/all downblown CPU coolers., u really want a Tower cooler.
With that 1 change u can then OC that CPU, u will want close to or above 4.5ghz which can be a stretch for the ivybridge processors on mid range air cooling like the Evo212.
Also change the graphics card to a 660Ti, its worth the extra price
Other than that i dont see anythign wrong tbh ..i personaly would go with a 600W PSU just for the extra headroom, but its not necceserily a requirment.
The OC is essential if u want minimum fps figures to not drop below 30 during WvW battles.

This was a joke right?

Get the coolermaster hyper 212 EVO as above posted.
The case you picked only comes with one fan.
You have no CD/DVD Drive.
The SSD is nice but if you are not going to reuse your old drive you have way to little storage. Also the SSD is perty much wasted $ that will have no ingame performance gains so it’s a luxery that would be better to use the $ for a better video card.
Decent power supply but I would also as above poster said up it some just so as it ages you still get pleanty of power.

I would assume the poster has his old HDD’s and optical drives.
But good catch on the Case, another couple fans wouldtn hurt and they r cheap.
A SSD is a luxury but can help reduce stutter..and ofc help loading times…but i do agree if the OP is now tight on cash i would opt out from getting a SSD and instead use the cash to up the PSU,Case Fans, and CPU Cooler.
