I’ve maxed out at 4Mbps on my 100Mbps line, so far, but I’ve only had it a short while.

A 6/7Mbps line isn’t very fast. Sorry.

Edit: 4MBps…ooops!

The (theoretical) max you’re going to get on a 6 Mbps connection is 750 KB (KBytes) per second – so your download speed isn’t very far off from your max. There’s always some overhead involved, so 500 KBytes/sec is reasonable for your connection.

That’s actually a pretty reasonable download speed, as stated. ~2/3 your rated isn’t super far off in practice.

Hell, I’ve topped out at like 5.5MB/s on my 95 mbps connection but it’s usually lower, like in the 2-4 range.

Heh, you should be happy you have that 6-7mbps. In california we’re lucky to get 1.5mbps.

Not sure where you are in CA, but SoCal certainly offers 100Mbps lines.

I patched up the game at my parent’s house on Wednesday night. They have a 75Mb/s service and it still took quite a bit of time with large portions being updated at only 1/10th it’s maximum bandwidth. That’s probably due to the size of the files being downloaded and overhead of the updater. Larger files near the end of the download did come down at 4MB/s.

Edit: I should note that previous patches were much faster than the one this Tuesday. It was the first one I’ve seen that came down at a rate far below the rated speed at my parent’s house.

They intentionally limit the outgoing bandwidth at times. There have been numerous patches that they do not. I wish they just made it kittenK *()@ clear when. It would LESSEN so MUCH DISMAY for their customers.
It would be so easy to do too.

WOW really? And I thought us hee in SA have bad internet ? We atleast at 10-20mb now and I get full downlaod speed towards Gw2 when the update happens.

Anet in future should just allow all PAID FOR Clients to download on patch release and 6 hours later non Paid licenses can go . paid for clients should be punished because Anet decided to make the game Free to play.
