Getting 30-40fps on average, and even lower in the trial zone. I can get 120-144 in games like Doom, Diablo, Overwatch and Just cause without a problem but this game is very low on high/auto detect settings.

I am on the latest drivers, and while I can reduce graphic settings not sure why I need to do so with such powerful of a rig. Plz help

this game is demanding on the cpu.

lower refections/shadow/draw distance/player amount

those tend to be cpu killers.

GW2 has a much larger scope than doom, diablo, and overwatch combined. Do not use those games as comparisons.

So the answer is that almost no rig in the planet can run this game at full high settings? I have a close to a top of the line rig, I7 4.6hz, 16gb ddr4 3200, samung ssd, gtx 1080 etc..

Is this game that poorly optimized?

optimization is a relative term.

GW2 is not any less optimize than those games. If you cram 60-100+ players in those games you mentioned except maybe diablo 3, you will be screaming poor optimization too.

this still is not helping my issue. What is the expected FPS in a game with my setup in a typical area. Even starting area’s I am seeing 30fps, this cannot be normal.

Something there doesn’t sound right. What monitor/resolution are you running? Are you using G-Sync? I’m running on a gtx 1070 in 3440×1440 on a 34" monitor with G-Sync and pretty much never drop below 60 fps other than huge events like Tequatl.

All I’ve done as far as GW2 graphics options, is just let GeForce Experience optimize the game settings and left em alone from there. You’ve probably already done that, but I figured I’d mention it just in case.

There is no 60 fps constant, don’t listen to these people, i gone tell you simple, this game has engine from GW1, so its like 10-11 years old, doesn’t matter what pc you got, you will see 20-35-40-60-80FPS, they will drop FPS just to turn your character, you can lose 20 fps, its sad, but you and NVIDIA, INTEL, AMD, cant save you buddy!

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

Partially true, that being said, intel stomps the crap out of amd in this game. Also GHz doesn’t mean jack, would be nice if the poster actually said what his cpu was. I play this game in 4k with a 5820k and a 1070, yea, areas like LA drop to the 40s, and some battles, like maw drop to the 20s, but usually I can stay close to 60.

Ye agree, AMD is bad here, because he can’t handle this game with one core, because of that you need i7.

AMD? It says in the title he has an i7 (though not which model and clock frequency). I have an i5 6600k and GTX 970, playing at 1080p with settings at max and in most parts of the starter areas I get 60 FPS (i have vsync enabled though). I am assuming he means the starter areas when he says “trial zone”. Heck, just checked on my previous and ancient i7 860 rig w/Radeon HD6950 and it’s averaging 35-40 FPS just standing in the middle of Queensdale. So something is not right with OPs setup.

Make sure you have all streaming options turned off in your Nvidia Control Panel.
There’s a few more settings people have mentioned but it’s been ages since I used an Nvidia GPU.

Also don’t use autodetect or pre-set graphics options. There’s a few settings, like Shadows, Reflections, and Character Model Limits, that are either poorly optimized(Reflections and, to a lesser extent, shadows) or just heavy on draw calls(character model limits) which is going to be his main bottleneck in that rig.

Hello,

I’ve not played for quite some time but I have always had issue’s with the framerate in Guild Wars 2.

For comparison, I run -

i7 6700K
GTX 980 Ti Hybrid in SLI
16GB DDR4 @ 3000Mhz
Installed on a 1Tb SSD

Personally, I think it’s game related rather than hardware related. If I were to walk into The Grove (Centre City where all the shiny effects are) my framerate would half itself, even though my GPU’s & CPU aren’t remotely close to 100% usage (Or throttling). I used to get similar experiences when doing world bosses.

next a random map,

gtx 1070,

This is a laptop, so you should perform better.

Anyway it’s normal you loose frame rate in crowded area’s like any mmo does.

I have to disagree. I have i7-5820 k. never see more than 26% cpu usage. I have GTX 690’s in quad SLI. They’re maxed out at 99%.

Cpu´s don´t work as they used to be, you can overclock, but they can lockdown some parts while doing so. People think about clock of the cpu , but there is more (cpu cache, system agent etc). An higher clock doesn´t in se has a higher performance. (an intel cpu try´s to hold is TPD, and they do this in all possible not published ways). Same or even more is for the pascal Nvidia gpu´s, they have a base clock and as long as some parameters are good they overclock a lot. ( power, temp , and some other´s),
As an extra, all parts (including the operating system) tries to be as green (read not consuming power) as possible. Thanks to this a lot of systems under perform. Also, and this is a big problem, most standard cooling systems are under dimensioned, preventing the cpu or gpu to perform at his best.

So if you think you not performing with you system the only thing you can do is measure. (So not the stupid comments about oh this game depends only on cpu)

What i find the best about gw2, it tries to get the best out of your system until it finds a bottleneck, but while doing so it´s even worse as a stress test. (most of the crashes people have are power, temp or to high clocks on memory related).

What is VenomAT’s computer type, laptop or not laptop ?
What game resolution is used (maybe more than one single monitor) ?
As far as i know, no mmorpg is optimized the same way as Doom, Diablo, Overwatch and Just cause (that just wouldn’t work).
My cpu is only a phenom II X4 970 overclocked to 3700 MHz and it works well almost everywhere (except big world boss battles) at 1680*1050 game resolution.
So an I7 at 4.6 hz…you surely mean at 4.6 GHz probably isn’t the problem here.

You have to look at core per core usage, not overall cpu usage. Maxing 12 threads is not a thing 99.99% games can do.
