I just read the post about the Zoom 3rd party program and there where some answers that bothered be. I know that the Zoom program is just for advantage and one should be banned to use. But my girlfriend has a problem, I have wrote about it before over a year ago and I guess I still will only get the same answers but I wanna try again.

My girlfriend realy loves this game but she has a handinjury that makes her unable to play with mouse and keyboard and we have tried all sorts of trackballs and everything. The only option she has is to play with a cideko air keyboard conqeror controller and using the 3rd party program Xpadder. To make this work in GW2 we had to program the movement with Macros (something like “Right mouse click + A”) to make the character strafe when she moves the stick to the left. Using 3rd party programs and using macros is against the rules but she has to and well… She has been using this for almost as long as GW2 has been on the market and she must use it. But if she gets banned what can she do to prove that she needs it?

What got me in to this again was the thing others said in another post, they said ‘If you use a 3rd party program that can give advantage it is always to get an advantage.’ Well since she does not use it for advantage, with controller she has a disadvantage becouse she cannot aim well or rather not at all with target/aim skills so she never uses skills like that. Also she does not have the moveablility that you have with a keyboard and mouse, she can’t turn as precise and quickly that you are supposed to do.

I have no idea what you expect the outcome of this post to be but I just don’t see how it can end up better than what you are currently doing. If you are looking for some official “exemption” to the standing policy, I’m not sure this was the best way to go about obtaining it (if that would even be something Anet would consider…which I don’t think they “officially” would).

I’m not trying to be callus, but until you posted this, nobody at Anet would have much a of a way (or reason) to consider a 3rd party program was being used on your GFs account. Good luck with this….

As long as her account follows the macro policy of 1 key for 1 function, she should be fine.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1043-macros-multi-boxing-and-guild-wars-2/
“Guild Wars 2 players are permitted to use macros as long as the macros are programmed with a 1 key for 1 function protocol.
This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.
You cannot program a macro to performs the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.
You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere”.

The linked policy statement should answer the questions you have.

If the macro is doing multiple actions, that’s a concern. It does not sound as if that is the case with the one you mentioned, so I would think the use of that program would not pose as big a risk as others macros that, you know, essentially play the game for someone.

You are correct in stating that there’s no way in the world we could make a judgment that concluded that the use of a third-party program was medically necessary, and therefore was something we could “approve.” But rest assured that we’re more than happy to work with our players for both regular and unusual situations, and each case would be considered — to the best of our ability — on an individual basis.

@Brother Grimm: I dunno what I expected realy, but as I said I got worried again when I read another post about 3rd party programs so I just fealt the need to ask :P And I don’t mind if they know that my GF uses a 3rd party program… If they gonna Ban her it’s better if they ban her early than later (Though almost 2 years isn’t very early anymore ^^)

@Astral Projections: Thanks, I have read that before over and over again :P But since she actually uses a macro to move I got a little worried. Anyway there is no macros for skills involved anyway.

@Gaile Gray: Thanks, It’s good to hear that.

You calmed my heart ^^ Thanks guys.

I lost the use of my primary, right hand in January 2013. If my info is helpful…

I actively play Guild Wars 2 with my off, left hand and NO add-ons. To do so, I use a Logitech touchpad and keyboard.

This isn’t to say that a software add-on might be helpful. I just don’t use one.

I’ve also remapped my keyboard to reduce the distance my fingers must move for various actions, using the built-in GW2 key assignments.

I use GW2 as physical therapy for my damaged limb.

A few level 80s, a good set of achievements, good times with my wife and adult daughters… GW2 works fine for me.

It may be expensive, but have you considered buying peripherals that you can use with your feet? It may allow for you to adhere to the one key press one function rule. StinkyBoard is one peripheral that comes to mind.
