Hello

My account has been suspended for 71 hours for an unacceptable name in violation of the user agreement and rules of conduct.

As English is my secondary language I’m not entirely sure what does that ‘name’ in there stand for, does it mean I was banned because of my name?

Or could it be another reason?

I have also sent a support ticket but I know these take a while to get an answer and my ban will probably be lifted by than, but I do not understand why would I get banned for my name as its just: Zaanchy (my real name is Zan, and I somehow got Zaanko out of it, and since Zaanko was already taken I got to Zaanchy)
And on my alt its: Oknaaz (Zaanko reversed) and my name on the second alt is something that I already forgot (only played it for ~2 hours or so) but its not a bad name in any way (some kind of Japanese name I found online :d )

Anyone has any clues? – I’ve also been googling that ban reason, and it didn’t come up with any hits..

Yeah, I wouldn’t have a clue why that was banned. Names are a real pain, I spent probably an hour making my first name for my main character because of that and every one I tried was taken…

I also forgot to write about something weird that has happened just before I got banned.

I was in WvW – Eternal battlegrounds – Jumping puzzle.
And me and a friend were on the location right before you enter that ‘dark room’ and we kept using them traps to block a guy from passing it, it was hilarious ^.^ (for us 2 at least) and a single guy tried to pass it for like 20-30 minutes and could not succeed.

He kept trying to join our party (not even sure how he managed to do that as he’s supposed to be an enemy) we kept declining him until I finally accepted it.

Once he was in he started raging at us really badly, we were both like ‘Hahahaha’ and stuff like that, no offensive words from our side as far as I recall (I might have said something, but I do not remember doing so.. well logs will know for sure)

And when I noticed he left the party I whispered him with something like that “Hey puppy, come here we’re waiting for you!”

and he whispered me back “Do you want another report (+ some other stuff that I don’t remember)”

And as I was typing him back with the “I didn’t brake any rules as far as I know, so you’re free to do so” answer white screen appeared and I got disconnected.

When I tried to re-log the ban was up.. but not sure if this has anything to do with the ban as the reason has something to do with the name.. i think..

According to what you write, there might be a suspension for a character name that does not fit with the rules.

But then again, you could have earned it for griefing = trying to stop the fun for other players.

If you really want to now, you have either to wait out the suspension and you will be asked to select a new name upon your return or you write a ticket. You won’t get an official answer on the forum and I don’t think you would like to hear anything bad about you in public.

utilising the game’s available mechanics to obstruct an enemy is what i would consider legitimate game play.

Well.. not sure how stopping an enemy from achieving a goal in WvW would be punishable .. as far as I know these traps are set there with a reason.. to stop enemies from doing the puzzle.. and that’s what I have been doing.
And with the name.. I tried Googling both of them, and I didn’t get any weird results.. so Its probably not a bad word of some kind even in foreign languages..

You will have to rename this character. If you would like the name “Zaanchy” back, please tell me the character’s new name in your reply, and I’ll make it available again.

Not sure how anyone would take Zaanchy as a bad name of some sort..

well, at least I can play again ^.^
