911 - Windows update killed my game!
try to uninstall framework 4.0 and use older version like 2.x i think that is causing all the fps problems
I’m not sure if uninstalling Framework 4 will do anything. Multiple installations of Framework will allow anything coded in that particular version to work correctly on the PC. I have all Framework up to 4 including all security updates and have no issues. Perhaps a corruption occurred,( texture files ? ) when the game shut down improperly due to the update forcing an install. Maybe the driver was corrupted. You should change the settings in Update to check for updates and let me choose whether to download and install. This way you will get the updates available when you boot and can decide when and which ones you want manually.
At all times you should set windows update to Disabled using Services.msc and only enable it whenever you want to check if windows has any updates available.

Yeah, this is a really good idea, and I’ve been doing this ever since WinXP released.
I advise everyone else to do that as well.
If i turned off auto update for windows, it’d never be updated. I’d always forget.
Anyways, I tried to install .NET Framework 2.0, but I can’t. When I use the installer, it says, “You must use ‘Turn Windows Features on or off’ to install or configure Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1”
I figured it meant i had to turn off my other version of framework, so i unclicked that box. It still won’t install. Not sure what it means.
cant you use control panel>>>add//remove program to unstall framework 4.0?
No, I already uninstalled it and it did nothing at all. I still can’t install 2.0, and when i start my pc up now it says, about a bunch of stuff, “This requires .NET framework to run,” and blah blah.. So it was obviously removed. Just can’t install the older version.
Try using the .net remover listed below and then try installing the 2.0 version.

I did those exact same steps that the site you linked to has on my own when i was uninstalling it. Didn’t work. Could not install 2.0 at all.
I leave for work in 15 minutes. If I can’t fix the game after I get off work I’m just going to uninstall it. No sense in having a game that I can’t play anymore.
This may not be the best solution for everyone but I did a restore on my computer to a previous setting (before the update), and this managed to do the job. FPS is back to around 40-50 in Lions arch when it was previously 5-6.
The reset to just prior to the update sounds like the best choice at this point. It’s what I’ve done in the past for things like this, such as when a Windows Update managed to break my playing of WoW at 60~fps.
You had the same issue, rockinanakin? I will try a restore after work. Thanks!
I, for one, am very interested to know which update was responsible for this (assuming it was an update in the first place). I was wondering if before doing system restore, you could go to Control Panel > Uninstall Program > Show Installed Updates (on the left) and note KB numbers of updates installed on that day?
I am having the same issue. After windows update, the game runs at low FPS and menus load slowly and load screens take forever. Going to try restoring to previous update.
Same issue, and this has happened before, exactly after a windows update as well.
Restoring pc to a state before the update did not work, performance was still incredibly low.
Last time this happened, my fps went back to normal after a day. The game client did not patch, my pc didn’t update anything … I’m at a loss;
FWIW I fully updated Win7 x64 last night and my FPS is still the same – no changes. As in, same fps pre and post updating.
