A nice fix.
Why fix when you can just add on top and pretend it’s not broken? Companies have been doing that for years now. Look at Apple.
Not sure what issue you are talking about FOX, personally I have not experienced any lag due to Free to Play. Just the usual lag free experience.
What region are you playing in? What are your system specifications? You need to give Arena Net more to work on if you expect them to fix your issue.
On the subject of content, an artist does not program a musician does not know net code and stopping HoT is not going to make any fixes come sooner. Those responsible for fixing issues and code are always working on it, regardless of what content designers are working on.
I’ve not had any lag problems. No one in my guild has mentioned having any, either. I also don’t see map chat (or the forums) exploding with people experiencing lag as bad as you seem to have.
Problem:
Huge lag since F2P patch (mostly in PvP).
Solution:
Stop with HOT and fix the core game instead.
PS: No I don’t have a bad connection neither a computer from the stone age…
What are the stats for your computer?
What settings do you have enabled?
I too see lag and dropped connections. Have tested my connection on my PC (running dual monitors) GW2 drops or rubberbands I refresh page on other monitor and it refreshes fine. test Internet connections running 50-60 meg downloads 14-17 meg uploads and a 28-30 Ping. I understand they are balancing but I am hearing to much from too many people for it to be anything other than an issue with the game servers. My server is Isle of Janthir as well. I also see lag and can log out and back in or even go from one map to another and it starts working fine. I think a lot has to do with load balancing and testing for HoT.

Indeed. Crucial details to include if they actually intend for their issue to get resolved. Then again, they technically have not asked for help yet, so maybe they are content with experiencing their lag issue. However, if they’d be willing to give some more details on their problem, here are some more that would help pinpoint the issue(s).
FOX, there are several different kinds of lag, each with their own root causes.
- What kind of lag are you experiencing? Graphical, data, input, connection? All or some of them at different times?
- You mentioned “mostly in PvP”, so I take it that it is not a constant issue and comes and goes intermittently in different scenarios and situations. What are some specific situations where you encounter this lag?
- Do you experience this exact issue in other online games?
- Have you tried contacting GW2 support to see if they can help you? Or even requested help in the technical support sub-forum? Or have you sat in silence on the issue you are experiencing until making this thread?
Answering these may help.
Otherwise, I’d quote FOX with their own words:
Anet for the 19.737.928 time, close useless topics like this faster!

Yup epidemic problem. Yet I’m not surprised by the responses you’re getting here. Sad to say but I think it is what it is. Frankly the problem preceded that. Solution? compound the problem by adding Silverwastes.

I’ve only ever gotten lag/DC issues:
- In LA during the initial Karka appearance.
- At Teq during the burn phase (with rapid screen rotation), with everyone stacked on each other and a bajillion graphics FX going off.
- In WvW right after the FoV change. This no longer happens with no changes on my part.
Teq required me to adjust Character Model Quality from high to medium, and I really don’t notice the difference. I also disabled the three Show Names options. No troubles since.
Four year old MB, I9 Sandy Bridge, 8 DDR3 Ram and a replacement GPU, AMD Radeon R9 270X.
Based on my limited experience, there have been issues at both ends, player and ANet. Also based on my limited experience, it seems more likely that giving complete info when diagnosing such problems offers a better chance of resolution than offering none.
I have the same computer for the last 2 years… I also have more then enough knowledge to know it’s not me, it’s Arenanet. Please stop bullcrapping me. I don’t want your opinions, I just hope someone from the development team reads this so they can look back and analyze what’s wrong, not me. I am also serious about Arenanet to stop with HOT and fix the core game first (dungeon bugs, PvP mmr, lags, etc).
-.-

Why do you keep dodging the question then? The problem can very well be on your end. If you’re unwilling to provide info then how can you expect to receive help?
Fox, you really can’t go “FIX LAG NOW” and now show where the issue is. On other threads, the Anet team has clearly stated what they require to be able to assist.
Anet is completely aware of issues and willing to fix them. If you don’t help them with that, how can they find the issue. As others have stated, they can go play pvp with 0 lag. So if Anet were to go and “fix the lag” and enters pvp, and never encounters it, how would you expect them to fix it.
So, what you need to do to actually get someone from Anet to help you (including if you ever submit a ticket)
1) Include the specs of your computer (also you might want to include screenshots of the programs CPU-Z and GPU-Z while GW2 is running)
2) Run a traceroute while you’re experiencing this lag to show where the spiking is occuring.
3) Stop getting angry at people trying to help you. If you really wanted it fixed, you would understand that you also need to help so they can find the issue.

I have no idea what he’s running. However, I know what I am running. I’ve gone through all the steps including sending them my specs, support tickets, DXdiag, etc. there’s a problem that exists on their end. It’s real. It mysteriously effects some people and not others. Telling him that you don’t have a problem isn’t helpful (when he and many others do).

I’m gonna have to call you out on this one. I’ve taken all the steps mentioned plus 2 support tickets. The problem is on their end.

Prove it, show the trace route you ran.
So. There are some kids here who are gonna read my forum history in hope to find something nice to keyboard me in the face with, and I am supposed to take them serious?
Wel again. I did not post this to discus something. I know that I am right, so spare yourself the effort. Just want Arenanet to know this and hopefully fix this. Or at least watch out with the updates. Because every patch breaks something else. You know it, I know it, they know it…

But he may not have the same issue that you and others have. His issue may stem from somewhere else. Or he may have another issue on top of the issue you’re having. So him not posting his information does hurt him.
It could be at a step before it gets to ANet, but after it leaves your end. And then ANet needs data on which one(s) are having issues so that they can use their influence and contacts to get them fixed.
I have not suffered lag from any of the recent patches. I hope this information helps the OP
It’s not your computer, it’s your ISP. Anet can’t fix that.

You made a post on a forum to not discuss a topic? Arenanet reads some of these topics and will sometimes reply…but only when there is enough information to make a informed suggestions, which you do not provide.

No one is “bullcrapping” you.
The information that was asked for (GPU-Z+CPUZ Screenshots with GW2 running, traceroutes and Gw2 ingame settings) is absolutely vital to diagnosing the problem(s).
No I don’t have a bad connection neither a computer from the stone age…
It doesn’t have to be old to be a terrible PC or have a host of issues.
If you don’t know how to provide the information that was asked for…Just say so. We’re here to inform and offer solutions, not to attack people over how tech savvy they are or aren’t.
Hard to want to help you when you act like you’re better than everyone who is in the techsupport section to help people.
