Nothing yet bro, i’ve tried to repair the client too but still the same kitten .
I’m waiting for their support.

This may or may not help but I started getting the crash partway through the update today at the same spot (assertion in AssetDownloaderCommon.cpp) and I found that by bypassing my HTTP proxy I was able to get the update to finish. If you have a proxy or web filtering security package you might try disabling it temporarily and see if that fixes it for you.

I don’t have the luck.

How can a game work then next minute stop working because of update. Anet need to fix this

I bought the expansion last week! now this!

From this way I cannot recommend the game to anyone.

Try updating your drivers for and Some things can help a bit to speed it up. Repair your client, delete temp files, defragment, delete old picture/music, do disc clean up. This can make more room for the download, can speed up your internet, and when your client is repaired it just is nice ^^Please follow these steps to verify and repair the archive:
Locate your Gw2.exe file.
Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut.
Rename this new shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Repair.
Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Repair and select Properties.
Locate the Target line and add –repair to the end. …
Click OK.

Also if you close the client, push refresh reopen it and wait and don’t have any other windows open at all, it downloads faster.

Tried all of that, no such luck fixing it, same crash same spot. I am sure Anet is working on it but it would be nice if they would work faster.

Still no fix? Yesterday morning I started the update, logged in to get my daily login, then logged off and allowed the game to update. When I came back this error I tried reinstalling, repairing, updated all my drivers, clean boot etc, but no luck. please help

Same problem here can’t update season 3 game patch. Done everything, flushing DNS, change preferred/alternate DNS, Client repair, reinstall / download new .exe, still getting the same error. 1st time having this problem since 2012 lol. Anet please look into it thanks.

Same here, taking so long to fix this critical issue.

Yea it’s really sad this bug is still here after maybe 1-3 days of being found.

Another main problem is the fact that this type of bug has been happening for 4 years or longer (read different posts from back in 2012), it’s like the bane of GW2, bug keeps coming back over and over, causing people to just quit or stop spending money.

It does make you wonder, what the hell are the devs doing? Can they get off their lazybums, put their serious pants on and just permanently keep this fixed or eliminate the code area it keeps coming back to permanently altogether/bypass it/replace the launcher/server thing that’s causing it?….
Money is being spent, is it going into booze instead or something? Not trying to be rude here but ya’know, not seeing much progress with something being fixed and coming back for 4 years or more. (This issue should’ve been perma-fixed ages ago imo).

Some say to rename a file here, others say to do a clean re-install to a different folder location there, etc, it’s a freaking mess, if you ask me though, don’t waste your time, it’s on the dev’s side, not ours, has to do with the launcher having difficulty connecting to the server, the launcher downloading a corrupted file or whatever else, not 100% sure ofcourse but I’m just going to wait for a fix, got other games to play while waiting. :P

I have tried all the tricks and fixes have posted about from even four years ago until now, i even tried to run the game in 32bit but that just changes the issue from saying “Gw2-64” to “Gw2” which basically is 32bit, so yeah its something to do with the recent update cause i have never in my life have this happen to my guild wars 2!!

Still nothing? Such BS do devs even check these forums? I mean the least they could do is comment and let us know what we can do to fix this? Or do we jst have to submit a ticket and wait another week before they actually get back to us?

Been Having the same ish problem. I quit playing shortly after launch, but recently I thought I would return and check it out again to see if anything had changed. However, it seems that GW2 doesn’t want me to come back because I’ve tried for the last couple of days but this is all I get. Crash right after opening the client, I’ve tried a fresh install, tried a the repair option but nothing seems to work… any suggestions. Oh and I tried killing all the background programs as well but no luck.

I had this problem ever since the Living World Patch came out

I tried flushing DSN, checking proxy, and repairing it. Nothing works.
I also had an older version of GW2, and tried to update it from there, to the current version.. still nothing.

I’m not getting the error message anymore, now it just out right crashes. I tried doing the repair again today and nothing changed. still just messed up.

I hope everyone is flooding support with tickets! Cause they’re not replying to my 3 day old email. -.-

The symptoms you’re reporting are often caused by a connection problem somewhere between your computer and the server you’re trying to download from. I’d like you to try forcing your game launcher to connect to a different server by doing the following:

Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder. By default, this will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2.
Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
Right-click the shortcut and select “Properties.”
In the “Target” line, put whatever is currently there inside quotation marks, then add -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80 at the end.
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80

Guys, i’ve tried to update in a differente network, and is going on!

I Just changed the network, the internet connection, i can’t believe.

The problem isn’t the windows version, the computer stuff, drivers, or nothing, and doesn’t matter change the proxy configs, is about your kind of internet.

Sorry bro last night I was pretty lit. so when I read your post I was Like I need him to teach me his ways. lol. But yeah I am using my cell phone wifi hotspot of all things right now and Its actually working. this is fricken crazy.

Same problem here. Started after last patch.
Win10, GTX 1070, 16GB DDR3
Crashes are random, sometimes every few minutes. Game is now unplayable.
PC is 100% ok, did multiple ram tests, gmem tests, burn in tests. network also 100% ok.

I got a fix from the technical support of ANET, try downloading the update through a VPN, it worked for me hopefully it will work for you guys

Okay so Anet got back to me on my ticket and I am back online.

Turns out that Adaware, was causing the problem. I had to delete the program and then remove the left over file called. LavasoftTcpService64.dll In order to get rid of this file I used a software called Adwcleaner from this link. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
It took about 5 min and it found the file like 4 times through my system. Deleted them restarted my PC. and when it rebooted it gave me a not pad file showing the work the program did. I Hope this helps.
