Q:
I recently installed the client at a new location and was missing the emails for security to verify the location attempt. So I had to “enable” guildwars2.com to get the emails. But now, I get daily several bogus attempts to hijack my account.
So, what to do? Do I enable emails from guildwars2.com to get the security messages that are valid or disable it to get rid of the hijacks? Or is there another alternative?
Note, I do NOT have a smart phone, so don’t bring up the app. Thanks.

Those hijacks are I asume the phising mails?? The email authentication is a very important step.
You might want to consider using a different mail-adress for gw2. I use a gmailadress. It is free and pretty secure. They mark the wrong phising mails very correctly as spam so it gets filtered out. Besides that, if you create e.g. daduhulkgw2@gmail.com and use it only for gw2 you have an additional security (just like a password the mailadress is something only you and anet knows). You only need to remember that you need to login that emailadress to get the authentication mails.

I understand the idea, but not sure if it will help.
Anet support told me to make sure to allow “guildwars2.com” and “ncsoft.com” as valid so that the emails for the verification would get through. Since the phishing email mask itself with these domains, this allows them in as well.
So even if I open a new email just for GW2, if I add entries to allow guildwars2.com email through, the phishing will get through as well, no?
Of all my online game accounts, this one seems to be the most troublesome. All this verification emails etc seem to bother the actual users more than they bother the hackers. :-/ I think I will block the domains again and will have to remember to unblock them the day I need them.

Remember, for many incoming contacts, “Those are not the droi… emails you are looking for.” ‘) There’s a world of difference between what you’re seeking and what you’re getting, right? Familiarize yourself with how the authentication mail looks, and look at it very critically. Then, simply delete those that are not identical to the authentication mail or that arrive when you have not requested a log-in that would send the auth email. If you’re not sure, check the A Note About Phishing thread to make sure you’re not taken in by a phishing attempt.
Does that make sense to you? Hope so!
