How to crashreport…
Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…

Repair Client (GW2.DATA file likely has corruption).

Use this link and look for the -repair command line switch:

Scan you HD (or wherever you are storing the GW2.DAT file) for defects and THEN repair the client. Everything in the error points to a corrupted local GW2.DAT file.

I put it on a different hdd.
New install and still does it.
Def a gw 2 prob then.

Also it only happens in wvw so far.
No other game i own even the hundreds on steam i own do not crash so imo it’s def to do with gw 2 latest update.

[update] Been playing pve all day not once did i get ASSERTION: Model leaks detected when quitting the game from time to time.
Went to wvw did a blob run quit game got the msg.
So it’s def wvw prob then.

At least the thread starter seems to use it :

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Generally this error points to a memory leak and can be software or hardware related. When it happens next open your event viewer. Look at the time stamps that match the time of the crash under either CRITICAL area or the area that says error.

There will usually be a few entries with one failure causing the next.

I am no expert at these software errors but it looks like data being lost somewhere and in particular as you login. You might want to run a test on your ram.

I am getting this sometimes when I exit the game, sometimes not. I don’t crash or disconnect, just exit normally.

I don’t run any command line arguments, and i’ve repaired the client.

I have also upgraded to a GTX970 from a Raedon 8750 & rolled back from win8.1 to win7 enterprise so that could be related.

I’ve tried the gw2.exe -repair
also tried renaming the dat file, running the client and cancelling the dat download once it starts, then replacing the new dat file with the old one.

Same problem here, on mac. Occasionally, for a while now, I would get an error message stating the game had quit unexpectedly even though I had closed the game myself and all seemed normal. Now, much more often, I’m getting a similar ‘model leak detected’ message when I close the game.
(I’ve had no other problems with the client. It hasn’t even crashed on me once.)

I’m getting this constantly now for every dungeon I ran but this didn’t happen a few days ago.

Tried repairing and moving the client. Updated drivers and changed the video settings, bypassing the router for direct modem connection and this I still keep getting it.

Engine Programmer

Hi folks,

This crash is known internally and we’re looking into it. Here’s some more info:

What’s happening is that some gameplay code is referencing a model file and that reference isn’t being handled properly on shutdown. We have some code to check any existing model references on shutdown to catch these situations in development, and unfortunately for you that manifests itself as a crash. It’s mostly harmless… mostly

We’re investigating the issue but we don’t have a good reproduction case.

If you regularly experience this crash on shutdown, could you please:

1) Submit your email address with the crash report so I can contact you directly if needed. (Please don’t post your email address in the forums)
2) Include exactly what you were doing before the crash and estimate how much time you were doing what. For example:
“I was farming Silverwastes for a few hours, then jumped into WvW and did Eternal Battlegrounds for an hour before shutting down.”
3) Please include your character name, class, race, and sex.
4) Include names of people in your party, if you were in one.

Thanks much and sorry for the inconvenience!

-Dave

I’ve reported almost all of these, and it definitely is more likely with the amount of time played.

  • Playing for an hour? May not get this.
  • Play for 3+ hours? Almost 100% chance.
  • I almost exclusively play WvW and exit to desktop from there when I get this.
  • I almost always leave party before I exit to desktop.
  • Usually I’m standing around in near spawn or keep after selling off stuff from vendor or replenishing siege disablers.
