Account Deleted? Disabled?
A friend of mine, Slamo.4805, had a similar problem. On August 31, he randomly found that he was unable to log in, with a message stating that the username (email address) did not exist. He submitted a ticket to Support under “Login Issues” on August 31, and hasn’t head anything back yet.
It seems a lot of people were having issues like this, most often being blamed on hackers/account breaches. I’m not so sure that really was the case for my friend, but that seems to be how these things are being handled.
There’re thousands of people out there all screaming for attention from the GW faculty. I’m personally glad/impressed that the game is out there working for most us. I’m just bumping this post… it sucks for a kid to have to wait for a game they’ve lost access to for no apparent reason, while her friends and family around her are free to play.
I noticed that there are a lot of similar stories out there being posted. What a jumble of cables that must be to sort out. May the force be with you!
I too can’t log in the game w/ my account and tried reactivating the serial code like you guys did but also received the same result. What sucks is that I bought 3 additional character slots already so I wasted even more money… I even saw some other posts w/ people saying they bought 7; 12 total character slots on 1 account. Don’t know why they need that much since there’s only 8 professions but I guess they can.
Same problem here for my friend. I gifted him Guild Wars 2, he played for a few days then he tried to log in on 9/1/12 and it said his account was invalid or didn’t exist. He has submitted two tickets. One he submitted out of the gate like wtf and the second he addressed correctly according to updates on forums. So would like some feedback.

The first thing I wonder when I hear about “code in use” issues is “Where was the game purchased?” There could be an issue, but it could be that the code was distributed more than once. Do you have that info?

We purchased our copies from Best Buy. All three have been working fine until last Saturday. And even then it was only my sister’s account that has had any issues. She managed to get one of her characters to level 10 before the account closed on her.
This sounds like her account was hacked and the password and email changed, has she checked her mail inbox and spam folder for any emails regarding this, like one stating that the email was changed as this gets sent to the old email address (the one she used to sign up)
My family and I pre-purchased three guild wars 2 accounts the Saturday night before launch—which was awesome, we had a great time playing together. Unfortunately, last Saturday (9/1/2012) my sister’s account was disabled.
When she tries to provide her account’s password, an error message appears that says that that email address is not on file. When I tried to reregister her account using the serial number we have for the digital download, we receive a message saying that that particular serial code has already been registered. When I asked her to sign into her original Guild Wars 1 (not GW2), it does not recognize her account.
Is her account lost? Is it disabled? I can’t even get into her account to change her email address.
The other two pre-purchases (which we bought through best buy online) have been working fine.
I can provide her email address, serial code for our game registration, etc. as needed.

It sounds like your account was accessed by someone else and they changed the email address on you. The system is kind of strange if someone has access to your account they can change the email address without verifying the change on the original address first. You should open a ticket with support, I don’t think they can help you here unless you first have a ticket number and have not heard back from support.
Is it possible that someone changed her e-mail? Since GW and GW2 accounts are linked, changes are applied to both.
Is her GW 1 account linked to a NCSoft master account? If so see if she can change the GW 1 password through the master account.
She did open a ticket and as far as I know we haven’t heard back. She did get an email notifying her about a attempt to change her password—but we all did. And then GW2 posted on Facebook to ignore the message. Her account IS linked to a NCSoft master account (I think). I’ll see if she can change the email address, at least for GW1, through that.
I am pretty desapointed about NCSOFT security breach, My brother got hacked as well, and i got hacked as well, they got our password and account name from SOMEWHERE INSIDE the website due high security breach, I dont know what they are waiting for to give back player account, It been 3 days my brother lost his account and they never reply, I am getting lots of stupid hacked account GOLD SELLER spawn in my email in-game, instead of working on stupid ingame exploit work on getting people account back, I seem angry still i am just pretty desapointed and i would have expected more form this compagny. And wtf is this, no email notify on email change? is this a joke? Those your webmaster event know what he s doing? Even there first email notify to respond on the first 3 days was broke, i knew all this would happen.
My friend had the same issue even when she already have been playing for a few days, she had a lvl 25 character and a lvl 17 character before she got the same error, it could be hacked or other technical issues that is happening at ArenaNet’s database since it does seem like the account doesn’t exist in their database anymore however if you do try to make a new account under the same e mail and cdkey it will tell you both are already in use. My guess is it is more technical than just getting hacked for this particular issue.
btw when you try to log in and get the E mail is not found error you get this error code in particular
Error Code: 3002:1008:1:462 and you can see on GW2 wiki(http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Error_code). it is listed as a unknown error.
It is not a incorrect password error not a Account banned error so what is it?
Any idea if ArenaNet can give us a clue on what exactly is causing this, because there are a lot of confusions on the forum about this error since most people who get the same thing assumes that they have been hacked, and others don’t.
Maybe Gaile can shed some light?

It came from somewhere inside the website eh? What you talked to the guy that hacked your account? What do you and your brother use the same computer? Yes? Most likely a key logger on your own computer.

i would say i am my self a programmer and my brother better then I am, we dont have a key logger for sure. The only way all this hacking could be possible in a week was to get a direct access to the data base. Over thousand of people lost there account, not only hundred, anyway i wish they get everyone account back correctly.
I want to just give a brief update: My sister got an email last night saying that, while her account previously could not be identified, it had been recovered and that she was free to quest her heart out in-game. Hope everything works out for the rest of y’all.
