Yesterday, I bought the DDE (Digital Deluxe Edition) online because of the sale price. I received my conformation email from Arena Net, along with the serial number for the DDE. I already have a current account, so I chose the option that the email gave me to LINK that serial to my existing account. When I did this, it said that the serial was already attached to my account. I logged in, but NO in game items. I cant train the elite skill from that DDE, no mithril box, no golem, no pots, no mini…NONE of the items that I was supposed to get. I logged out and back in, nothing. I opened the gem store, nothing there for me to do. No in game mails either.

I have sent a support ticket off, but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on this issue, in case I have to wait a year for Arena Net to reply. The code should have taken affect immediately, especially since it claimed to already be attached to my account. I know other people in the forums have said there was no way to add a new key to an existing account, but the email sent with the code gave me the choice to register OR link it to an existing account.

And just to clarify, I did NOT already have the DDE. All I have currently is the standard edition.

So any ideas or suggestions would be welcome and helpful.

You did not buy an account upgrade. You bought a second account that was the Digital Deluxe version. You can’t use a new account to upgrade an existing account. The only way to upgrade an existing account to the Digital Deluxe is to buy the account upgrade through the gem store. It currently costs 2,000 gems.

The part about linking it to an existing account is referencing linking your Guild Wars 1 account.

Ok, I see. So now what do I do? They really need to make that more clear on the email that comes with the new validation code. The way it looked to me, is that you could just link that upgrade code to your existing account and it would be fine. Not sure what to do now. Is a refund my only option here ?

If you don’t want the second account you could contact support (which I see you have already done) and request a refund. Do not do a charge back though, wait to talk to support so they can assist you. If you do a charge back your accounts could be permanently banned.

However, for such a decent price for a full new Digital Deluxe account I might consider just keeping it and using it as a second account for storage or what not if I were you.

Yeah, I may just do that actually. But still, I think they need to make it a BIT more clear, as to HOW to upgrade or not upgrade your existing account. When I got the email with the validation code, it clearly says, “If you want to use this code to upgrade an existing account OR link to a Guild Wars account, then click here. Link Account”

When I hit the Link Account to upgrade my existing account, which the instructions clearly made it look like I could, it shows no way to do that, and only the option to Link it to your Guild Wars account.

This is AFTER purchase has been made already , mind you. So yeah, I feel that is a little bit deceptive, or maybe Im just to stupid and read that wrong. But it sure looked like plain English to me

But thanks all, for the input. I will just either keep the second account and start from scratch on it, or get it refunded back to my card. I really don’t want to start all over again just for the DDE stuff. I should just get a gem card and upgrade it from the gem store. I just wish I would have known all of this before I done that. Oh well, live and learn, huh?
