Okay, so I played the game quite a bit for the first couple of months after it’s release, lost interest at around level 63 or so, and stopped playing. Just a few nights ago, I decided to come back and play again. When I went to log in to start the download, I found that my account had been hacked, and had to go through the process of having it returned.

Upon getting my account back, I found that my main character (Warrior) was no longer level 63, but level 80. Not only was I 80, but I had a full level-80 green set, with a yellow weapon. I also had around 500 Heavy Moldy Bags in my inventory, and was in the middle of Cursed Shore.

The downside to this, was that my character was completely stripped of all previous property and gold. All I had was the green set and those 500ish Moldy Bags. It kinda worked out in the end, as I opened all of the bags and sold all of the contents to get some gold back.

Should I put in a ticket to see if I could get all of my previous property back?

xD some1 use ur account as a bot to farm Heaby moldy bags. I think u should open a ticket

Well this is why I’m curious as to whether or not I should put a ticket in. If they decided to remove the gold gained from the bags, and give me back what I previously had, I might end up on the losing end. I’m really not sure as to what I actually had before I stopped playing. It was quite a while ago.

I am pretty content with getting a free level 80 though.

Put in a ticket and tell them you are in control of your account again. Your account might be on a list of “To be banned” that you don’t know about.

Your options:

1. Do nothing and keep everything the way it currently is.

2. Request a rollback. This can only be done once during the lifetime of an account. If possible, everything will be returned back to the way it was before you were hacked. This also means you’ll lose everything that was gained.

Also, you should really have email verification – you wouldn’t have been hacked if you did. If you did have it enabled, you might want to change your email password, since it and everything in their would be compromised.

I would put in the ticket to be safe. The last thing you want is for them to decide you’ve exploited something and ban you. Get their approval to keep the new stuff, or be reverted back.

But get them to say something to you either way.

Personally i’d be scanning my computer with everything i have, formatting too, obviously the took your account with some help, i’d be checking they don’t get it again..

Remember though, that rollbacks are only viable if the account was hacked after a certain date…December 1, 2012 to be exact.

If your account was hacked before that date, your account will not have the option of restoration.

If you had less gold then before then don’t bother. It isn’t illegal to not ask for a account restoration I believe. Though technically, the gold earned from those bags aren’t yours so i’m not sure as well. But ye, account restorations can only be offered ONCE per the account lifetime, so use it carefully.

I wouldn’t bother with a rollback. You probably came out ahead money wise with selling all those mats and I doubt you had anything valuable by level 63. If you request a rollback, you would essentially need to stop playing until then as you will not only lose everything you get, but if you sell things now this might invalidate the rollback.

I don’t really ‘want’ the account to be rolled back to where it was before. The boring grind of leveling was what made me lose interest in the first place. (Not the GW2 had an exceptionally boring leveling experience, I just hate leveling in any MMO.)

If I understood previous posts correctly, my options seem to be: Inaction, or a rollback to 63. Given those options, I’ll gladly pick “inaction” and keep my level 80 and 25+ free gold.

I’m not too worried about that. I highly doubt an ANet support rep is going to ninja-reroll my account without me making the request personally. I don’t think they read through the forums just so the can find people to roll back.

The rollback seems to be a “once per lifetime” thing anyway. With limitations like that, it sounds more like they treat it as a one-time butt-saver rather than a function to screw you over if you get hacked and manage come out on top.

Of course not. But they can still decide to ban your account because of botting or stuff like that.

The hack attempts started months ago from what I could tell. When I was going through my email to find my game-key to get my account back, I waded through about 30 “Unauthorized login attempt” emails (All from ching-chong thief-land, China). I’m also on a different PC than when I played before. I never even touched GW2 on this PC until a few nights ago, so it’s doubtful that my account being compromised has anything to do with malware on this PC.

The moderators would also read that this person is clearly questioning what they’re doing and that their account was hacked. Whether it is a cover story or not, I can’t say. But there’s likely logs of him getting his account back if it’s true.

Ok, not really.

Under the circumstances you’re fine to keep things as they are. After all the post-hack activity, I don’t think you’d qualify for a roll-back anyway. So I believe you’re good to go.
