Account hacked and emptied
Contact CS and discuss the issue with them. They will be happy to investigate. Top of Page – Support – Submit a Request. Good luck.
It sounds as though your email might have been compromised, as well; you should secure it, and change the password. Also scan for keyloggers, malware, virus, etc.
The same has happened to me, also in the past week (could have been any time as it’s been a good week or so since I played). I’ve contacted support, they’ve allowed me to change my password without my serial code, and I’m now being put through to a different section of support to have my account restored to the closest date before compromise. So just contact support, they will help.
This is exactly what happened to me today as well. I also noticed there are attempted log ins from an IP in China. How does an IP from China ( go figure ) log into my account when I have all IPs except mine blocked?

If you have attemped log-ins from other IP addresses, it means they have your Account Name (email address associated with your account), and your password. You would be wise to change both your game password and email account password.

Both of those were changes as of yesterday. it was AFTER changing those from the Guild Wars account that this account was broken into.
I will add that I run Symantec Anti-virus, have no viruses, add-ware, spy-ware, or any other form of Mal-ware on this system.
I have worked in the IT industry for almost 25 years the last 10 of those in the information systems security fields. The question remains, with 2 part authentications IP checking, and e-mail, how did this happen?
After all we do trust in the server to not give up information when we purchase items from the TP using our credit cards.

Perhaps, you will find this enlightening: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Account-Security-What-you-need-to-know/first#post3884132
No one logged into your account, they merely attempted to. Again, it would seem they have your Account Name and password. It is the authentication that prevented them from logging into your account; it does not prevent those with your information from trying to log in.

Don’t be obtuse, of coarse they logged in, if not they could not have stolen the items from the account. The FACT is they stole the items AFTER a fresh password change that has never been used in another game of on a different account.
In fact it was less than 5 hours after the change.
I did not want to double post.

I can only go from what you stated in your post…..‘attempted log ins’.
Whatever it is, you will have to discuss your issue with CS. Good luck.
Seems there is quite a bit of this happening over the past few days. The wife received e-mail from ANET Friday that someone was attempting to access her account from Korea, Taiwan and China and asked if she wanted to authorize that access. We had been on hiatus and had not played nor logged in for over 2 months. She did not grant access at that time. She immediately tried to log into her account but was unable to until she went to her account and reset her password. After gaining access she found all of her characters had been stripped. Seems the person from Taiwan won out over the other two. The time spread between her receiving the e-mails from ANET to her checking and getting back her account was 8 hours.
If they tried to gain access from a different IP which triggered ANET"S security system to send the authorization e-mails who then granted that authorization? Her e-mail was not compromised and they would have had to have access to that e-mail address to grant the authorization.
I have one concern about this topic, are you using authenticator?
(=‘.’=) Put him in your signature,
(")(") And help him conquer the world!
The wife and I both just installed one after the above fiasco.
