Is this really Anets fault you got hacked?
If you were hacked and then hacked again, you may want to get your PC checked out. There are keyloggers and all kinds of bad stuff your PC can get infected with that can be the cause of it. It sucks to be hacked but you need to make sure your PC sercurity and anti-virus are up to date.
You should consider using the mobile authenticator.
ArenaNet Communications Manager
I would recommend a full scan of your system to check for keyloggers. In fact, I’d recommend you flatten it and rebuild, but I’m naturally conservative about these things.
Using the email or mobile authenticator is excellent advice, and I hope you take advantage of one or the other.

No what they need to do is release an actual authenticator like Blizzard did and not half kitten everything to save a buck. I share a phone with my partner, and the only reason we have that one is because we have kids. Is it fair to anyone to pay an extra 80 to 100 dollars a month for a cell phone to protect their video game character?
I use MSE and Malwarebytes, but my WoW account still got hacked – an no, I don’t use all same passwords on everything. When my account was compromised I used both my scanners, they detected nothing, I also used what Blizzard recommended. Nothing was found. Phishing? I don’t even check my e-mail, unless I’m confirming something.
I am very disappointed in ArenaNet’s lack of communication and support, but I can’t really say I am surprised.

Have you ever considered that your e-mail was compromised and not game accounts?
Also if you dont want to buy another phone for authenticator, you can install virtual Android iPhone on your PC (just like any other virtual system/virtual PC), install authenticator on it and it will work with your internet access only.
And lastly: MSE and Malwarebytes are not something i would recommend for PC security just because MSE is a Microsoft product and Malwarebytes is a freeware service. Both are usually easy to bypass.

Those programs are plenty for what I do, not like I am hitting up shady game sites, adult content, or pirating. My history would bore you to death.
A key-chain would really be great, also give paying customers a piece of mind.
I have mentioned this before but it was a month or so ago. There is an absolutely AMAZING security product to combat this specific issue and it is not virus protection, though I do recomend that as well. It is called KeyScrambler by QFX software. The free version works with Internet Explorer and Firefox and it does NOT yet work with the GW2 launcher.
http://www.qfxsoftware.com/index.html
— Click the download button then scroll down to the Free version.
Keyscrambler will scramble your keyboard inputs as you type them anywhere in your web browser. For example what I typed was scrambled into "r8;$1sz… etc so if someone keylogged it they would get garbage.
Here is what I would do if this happened to me personally. I would find an online safe anti-virus scanner from one of the reputable sites and scan my computer. Then I would use my personal anti-virus software to scan my computer. After I did all of this I would download and install KeyScrambler Free version. The free version covers Internet Explorer and Firefox.
After it was installed I would change my email password first and then change the security questions on my email account in case the keylogger/hacker had that information too. Then I would change my banking passwords next and lastly my GuildWars 2 password.
I have used this product for two years and in two years I have never had an issue with this kind of problem. Note that I did have the exact same problem before I found this amazing security product. The majority of stolen information seems to come from what you type on the web aka Internet Explorer. I would also recomend a reinstall of GW2 just to be sure the problem didn’t get into the software as well.

While I am basically happy with the account authentication features, anet did make one VERY big mistake. By using our account names as our user names here on the forums (and so easy to see in game), half the protection is gone from the start. Since our user names are there for all to see both here and in game, thay should not be used as our logins as well. It’s much easier to hack an account when you already know half the info you need right from the start.
My wifes account is hacked and being used at this very moment. We have ran 2 keylogger finders and Norton Anti-Virus along with Stopzilla Anti-Virus. None of these programs found anything wrong.
I believe the problem is on ArenaNets side, and is more likely a brute-force attack on their account server. ANet is having serious account security issues, and continuing to “blame” the customer, while ignoring this issue, is not acceptable.
I can change my password to a 50 character, computer generated, NATO code, but if ANet is having security issues then it will not matter.
