So seeing as how everything will be nice and cheap, I’m wondering if I can purchase a digital deluxe edition key at the 75% Off price and use the key for an existing account instead of starting a new account.

Since it’ll be $15 it’s $10 cheaper than buying 2000 gems from the gem store.

You can not. It is not an upgrade, but the CD-Key to a new account. You can only upgrade an account through the Gem Store.

Hello, my question is a bit similar so instead of making a new thread I’ll post it here

I just bought the Digital Deluxe Version, can I link this version to my current account (which already has GW1 and ‘regular’ GW2)?
I don’t want it to merge with the GW2 characters I already have, but just want the Deluxe Edition to be part of the same account so can login with the same email/pw.

Checked my account page before asking here but I couldn’t find an option to add another serial. Did I miss something or should I create a 2nd account?

GW2 ‘regular’ and GW2 ‘Digital Deluxe’ are still the exact same game. There is no way they could make you have two accounts for the same game with the same logins. And the concept of making an account selection would just be a waste of developer’s time as the amount of people that will buy the game multiple times for themselves is minute and I can’t think of a single MMO that has done that. You simply have to create a second account to go with a second game.

However I will say the deluxe upgrade in the store has always been an utter rip-off. At the very most it should have cost just the difference between standard and deluxe editions, which is $20, or 1600 gems… but, nope! 2k gems. Then of course it has never gone on sale from anything I’ve ever seen, so when the games themselves go on sale, the price difference is even more glaring.

I would have bought the upgrade a long time ago had they priced it at 1600. As it stands, never touching it as long as they think their active players need to pay a premium even if I had enough gold to convert for it.

Ok thanks for the reply. I have two WoW versions (EU and US) on my Blizzard account but I just realized it’s because EU and US servers have no access to the other region’s servers. GW2 doesn’t have this so I’ll create another account

I kinda wish they were more clear on this point, I just wasted money because I don’t want another account.

Try putting in a ticket. Maybe it can be refunded or merged… I’m frustrated that they didn’t put the sale up for existing customers at all =/
