Guild Wars 2

My system is running 10-15 FSP within medium-large scale WvW battles, and I’m wanting to achieve a minimum of ~20 (or what you think is decently playable) on good settings.

Currently I’ve drop shadow to low and removed reflections as well as reducing other settings to low-medium.

This is my system:

Win 7 64 bit OS
AMD Bulldozer 6200 Six-core 3.80 OC CPU
16GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7800 GPU – 4MB RAM

What would you recomend for me to upgrade to if I’m looking at getting descent FPS at a budget price. Switching to Intel is fine. i5? Would i3 do the trick? How is my GPU?

Swtich to intel yes.

Wait for June though. Intel has their new haswell CPU’s releasing around that time, they will be replacing the Ivybridge 3570k and 3770k, it also uses a different socket type. Performance difference should be around the 5% to 10% mark over Ivy.. but time will tell as always.

Once they release depending on prices and performance u will ether want a i5 4670k or i7 4770k.

It is highly likely though they will still need overclocking hence why i sugest the K versions, they r designed for it. But since Ivy’s can manage 20+ fps in WvW with a ~4.5ghz OC ..a new haswell shouldnt have a problem doign the same.

You really need good per core performance for GW2.
Which means no to AMD Bulldozer.

If I was looking at budgeting for a current i5, would that be sufficient and which would be the best choice?

Yeah an i5 3570K is what you’re looking for if you buy before June. After that, Haswell launches which, as SolarNova mentioned above, the i5 4670K is the processor to get in terms of the i5 series.

Personally, I would wait out the one month or so for the new platform and efficiencies brought in by Haswell.
