Hello guys, I have limited knowledge about computers when it comes to technical stuff. Would be great if anyone can give me advice on the laptop I’m buying. My current laptop can’t handle WvW so I have been stuck with spvp for a year now. Planning to getting into WvW after the events of PAX, hoping this laptop wont give me much trouble with zergs or getting around in WvW.

You are on the right track but you should consider getting one with a better CPU. Even if you have to spend a few hundred dollars more.

Thanks for the reply!

After some research I found some mention diffirence between i5 and i7 for games is 2-3 fps. And i7 ture power shows when it comes to rendering. Also there aren’t many games currently available on the market that can really make use of the i7’s full capabilities.

So if I would be aming for better gw2 WvW experience is i7 really needed, other then its being an invesment for the future games?

With the new consoles being released shortly there will be games that will use all of the i7’s threads, it is just a matter of time.

For you normal everyday FPS game or other such simular GPU bound games then yes that is true ..however.

GW2 realy needs strong CPU, an i5 will do in 95% of cases, however it needs ot be a fast i5.
I cant recall how much that laptop costs specificaly, but if u truly want the best u can get for a laptop ur looking at around $2000, and make no mistake, to be able to play GW2 WvW , you are indeed asking for the best laptop u can get.

The best cpu u can get for a laptop is infact a desktop 3820 i7 CPU (infact u can get a 3930k/3960x/3970x aswell but they cost ALOT). But these only come in a select few laptops and they all cost around $2000.
Your other choice is to get a normal laptop CPu which wont be as fast but u can get them in cheaper laptops. A CPU like the 4700HQ and a 750m GPU is what u would be looking at fpor around $1000 push a little furthero r change around some specs and u could get the same CPU with a 760m GPU.
Though tbh if it was my money i would push and get a SAGER NP9570.

customize that laptop and you would have a monster gaming laptop. And it would do ‘almost’ as well as a normal desktop for GW2, i say almsot becouse you cant really oc that laptop despite it having a desktop CPU (cooling).

What I mean is not to get a CPU with more cores, but to get one with more single-threaded power core-for-core. Like an i7-4770K has roughly 10% more power core-for-core than my i7-3770K. That is what I meant by an upgrade in your CPU.
