I’m thinking of buying a Alienware 13 as I need an extremely portable and small laptop. It looks really awesome, but I am wondering how taxing the “Intel® Core™ i7-4510U Processor (Dual-Core, 4MB Cache, up to 3.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost)”

How taxing is it going to be since it is an Ultra Low Wattage Processor? Since it only uses 15 Watts, instead of 35 Watts of normal computer CPUs, I wonder how much weaker it is. I’ve never owned a ULV laptop before, only Dual and Quadcores.

This CPU is a Haswell, and I heard that the Broadwell CPUs are coming out soon. I don’t know if the ULV variants will offer anything substantial in performance? Anyone else who have had experience with ULV CPUs and GW2?

For GW2 you want a M or HQ CPU and not a U. The lower clock rate will make that much of a difference. And Broadwell is performing less then an i5-4200U, but with MUCH longer battery life.

If your looking at an i7-4510U, you are better off buying the i5-4200u to save on cost, as the performance between the two are going to be minimal for gaming. They are both lowly clocked and have only 2 cores. And the i7 has minimal value-add above an i5 for the current costs (259~ for the CPU upgrade on Dells customization page).
