If anyone is playing on a M17x alienware laptop and does not expierence high amounts of lag could you please reply? and Rahsaan when you choose “auto detect” does it put all graphic settings on low? the first week i was on high everything with no problem and now my integrated graphics card runs smoother than my other card but i get too much screen tearing.

I sometimes play this game on my m17x (580m) and experience little to no lag. I assume when using the term “lag” you are referring to internet lag and not low fps.

If you are talking about fps, I average around 40fps pretty much maxed (native render/shadows high not ultra) but sometimes hit 60 when not in a city.

I also have road runner lightning and experience no internet lag. I did recently open the recommended ports on my router, even though I wasn’t experiencing problems before (better safe than sorry) So make sure you try that. Also make sure windows firewall and whatever AV you are using is set to allow GW2 exe to run.

Aside from that not sure what else to tell you, if I can assist anymore please let me know.

What specs do you have? Cpu? Ram? Video card? Since alienware laptops are so customizable somebody else with a m17x may have completely different specs than you based on how they customized it. They could have picked a lowerend cpu or a nvidia gpu where you picked an amd gpu and your problem wouldnt be relevant to what they have or vice versa.

My settings
i7-2820QM @ 2.30GHz (8CPU), 8GB dual Channel RAM,
AMD Radeon HD 6970M, Driver Version 12.8 (Switchable Graphics OFF with A10 unlock Bios), 2 X RAID 0 SSD 512GB.

I even run Age of Conan on High and get 45fps. Crysis, Assassin Creed, Syndicate, Battlefield, Medal of honor, Rage and a bunch of GPU intensive games on high/ultra with 40 fps..

BUT… somehow in GW2… its a whooping 1-6 fps sometimes 12-20 fps (High or low settings is the same). Initially at early access, I got 110 fps at high settings on GW2, but after a few seconds of playing, it hits 4-6 fps.

ArenaNet seems to have ninja fix things and now, I am getting 26-60 fps at mid settings even in major spam of particles. Kudos ArenaNet, please tweak it so that we can play at high settings and fully enjoy the game experience

I’m on a M14x, and while not a m17x, i had this issue for a couple times i played. Didn’t matter what settings i used, got single digit frame rates. Not sure what changed, but after a couple restarts/shut downs, it went up to around 30fps on medium or higher settings. Not the most helpful, i know.

I am using M14x as well, I have unstable FPS between 30 – 60 all the time, not sure if that is video or network lag…
