Q:
….. And Elementalist.

Q:
I got email about account being shut down so I followed the links and gave them my Guild Wars 2 account details but then it asked me for credit card details so now I think it is a hacker who just gained access to my account…
Maybe the photo can help Anet verify it was them or maybe someone can tell me how to prevent my account being hacked as I already gave them my Serial Number, Email and a Character Name.

It can be enough to compromise your account. As noted, you should secure your account, email account and computer asap.
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/66122673-Guild-Wars-2-Account-Security
You should then contact the CS Team and inform them of what you have done; both giving away sensitive account information, and the subsequent actions you have taken to ameliorate said actions.
Good luck.

(above post didn’t work on my screen)
You see the message at the bottom of the screen that clearly states that it’s not from Anet. Yeah, it’s not from Anet. You just gave hackers all of your account details
You need to contact support RIGHT AWAY. Tell them what you did, and they will help you. Change the password on your email address, on your account, and anything else that shares the information.
just to clarify whenever u get a anet mail it haves the anet logo on it , the one that look like a colisseum or w.e with red.
if mail doesnt have those propertys is a random player
And this is why the message needs to be at the top and not the bottom…and in big red letters…
And this is why the message needs to be at the top and not the bottom…and in big red letters…
Actually, people have even seen the message, and posted on the forums going “I know it says this, but Anet, can you really really confirm if it’s you or not.”
So a big red warning won’t help. People need to actually be a little smarter with their account security.
Name 1 gaming company in the past which has sent out an email, or in game mail going “go to this random website, fill in ALL your account details so we don’t close your account for the malicious activity we think you have done.” That alone screams issues.
If anyone ever has a concern that they did something against the rules, it’s always best to use the proper ways to contact Anet, and ask them. Instead of giving them the information that Anet would never need.

Maybe what anet should do is send each current account and each new account at first character creation an email pointing out that an email from them has the anet logo and the statement at the bottom saying it’s from them and if it says it’s from another playet, it’s not from anet.
Even though that’s pointing out obvious information there does seem to be a group of people that have to have the obvious pointed out to them.
Guys we are getting a little off topic at the moment, so far Ellieanna.5027 and Unkillable.5604 are the only people to provide something helpful, yes I understand I missed a few things like a tiny logo somewhere in my mail or what ever and after 10 hours at work then having my missus talk to me in one ear while I log on I am going to need “the obvious” pointed out to me tryin to process the days kitten summed up in 5 minutes…
I need helpful information, or a Dev to confirm that giving away my Serial Number, Email and Character name is not enough to high jack an account.

If any anet staff see`s this thread – can you please add a sticky with details of what to look for , and the steps needed to contact anet .I had an email myself yesterday and it made me lol – im lucky if i ever have over 10 gold and id be amazed if the supposedly “anet staff” thought i was moving large amounts of cash around. Reported it as scamming as well as informing all my guildies/friends so the word got around.

The stickies are in the section above. “Please take care with ingame mails” and “Common Phishing Attempts: emails and ingame mails.”
