Q:

I would like to know if you guys have an SLA in existence that would let you open a wide area ticket with your ISP to test pathing between the servers and your clients?

I ask, because I see a lot of transport issues with level3, tinet, and a couple with upc in a ‘area outage’ situation.

Here are some of the Nodes I found effected by Latency. Note, these Nodes appear on MANY of the different posters traceroutes.

149 ms 149 ms 149 ms vlan51.ebr1.NewYork2.Level3.net [4.69.138.222]
36 ms 36 ms 40 ms xe-4-0-1.fra23.ip4.tinet.net [89.149.181.157]
145 ms 148 ms 145 ms 145 ms xe-11-3-0.fra23.ip4.tinet.net [141.136.110.113]
186 ms 96 ms 98 ms ae1.XT2.FFT1.ALTER.NET [140.222.232.69]
40 ms 12 ms 20 ms cz-pra-pop1-rb1-vla106.net.upc.cz

This kind of SLA would let you and your ISP work together to notify transport carriers of their issues, and get updates on the tickets which then let you reflect them back to your customers/clients. Though, you would not be able to press the issue for repair as you don’t hold any contracts with transport carriers (that I know of, you might with whatever transports your ISP has direct connections to)

I would also request that ArenaNet have a section on their website that covers network updates, both on a Server Side and a transport side.

For example;
As it has been stated, and proven, over the last couple weeks or so, France was under a very large ADDoS which took down 95% of the countries available BW. The DoS was recorded at 19.86Gbps over their 21.96Gbps connection, effectively taking down that entire infrastructure. France has direct nodes going back to our ISP for transport. So that ADDoS directly affected connections between us and our clients/users that transported across FRA23, FRA61, and a couple Frankfurt nodes. Until the DoS is resolved your playability will be affected. And unfortunately this is entirely out of our control. Thank you for your understanding, and we will keep this topic updated.

Having this posted on the forums, or a status update page would have helped with PR pertaining to your product(s). As there is noting that can really be done about a DoS attack (unless you Proxy relay it off to a faster connection then drop the SYN requests, Intrusion Protection FTW!), anyone affected would just have to wait until the ADDoS quieted down, or stopped.

Now I know the forum rules, and I’m Not supposed to put your companies name in the title or ‘ask direct’ questions this way. But in all honesty, I don’t care. It’s time these questions are asked, and these feature requests are put on the board. Infrastructure support is just as important as your game’s software support and your living story updates. And, It’s time this gets addressed.

Posters – Please leave this Thread alone. I am only looking for communication from Anet on this. With a connection thread with 2,000+ replies showing proof of various connection issues (sorry, but hardly any are at ArenaNet’s end) I would like them to start investigating these issues and being more professional by updating the community on their status, rather then letting them ‘just go’.

Thx!
