So I have had a thief for about a month now, named Bondage Discipline. I have received several COMPLIMENTS, not complaints from players I have come across. Is this seriously an issue? Now apparently both words of my name contain words or letters that are not allowed.

Sometimes the name teams can get a bit overzealous. You can try appealing the decision to either the Support liaison or here with Gaile.

Personally I don’t see anything wrong with the name, anymore than I don’t think it would be appropriate to censure someone over belonging to a LGBT guild, or a black character with the name “Black Fro Warrior”, but like I said, speak with the ANet representatives.

So your question ‘Shouldn’t we be adults here?’ is clearly allready answered in the terms of service you have agreed to follow.

Also the game is rated for 12 years and older.

More important. The reason that it took some time before they took action is that Anet only takes action if someone reports you. No, don’t blame this on the person who reported you. It is Anet judging (atleast so far) that the name is appropiate, not the person that reported you. But reality is that:

Someone was offended enough by the name to report you

So do you really want to continue using this name?
Also the fact that it got reported atleast once and that the name is…as yourself prolly agree…edgy, means that support likely gets more complaints in the future and take the time to evaluate you. Do you think that it is worth that, so you can have your fun?
