Guild Wars 2

I received a third party accusation and am now permanently banned from the game, for using the in game ctrl right click automation feature. I know I’m not the only one having this issue if they are going to perma ban accounts for using their own mechanics wouldnt it make since to take it out, or better yet investigate before issuing bans?
Its been 4 days now with nothing but back and forth automated response’s…

You didnt do what a mass of people have been doing lately and went afk with the auto click feature active at a certain, well advertised spot did you?

I thought it was the idea of it. Like in UO autoattacking your foe =)
There is nothing about it in EULA and etc. Why they ban people for the thing they’ve implemented theyrself…

Because its probably an oversight. using the right click feature is not a problem in itself. Using it for AFK combat is an issue, but not one that Arenanet have said much on.

Unintentionally I did it apparently but not thAT I exactly know must have been hit while afk and then started auto attacking if they are going to make suck a deal out of their own faulty mechanics they should just remove them thus eliminating the issue and not everyone and there mother demanding refunds. :P

They shouldn’t remove features just because some people are stupid enough to abuse them. The simple solution is ban those that do it so the rest of us can use these features as intended.

And what about hose of us who were banned for going afk, then were attacked triggering the auto attack and killing the enemy whether we intended to or not. Coming back from dinner to find we have been permanently banned… I doesn’t need to be removed just fixed so it can only be triggered x times automatically from random mob aggro.

So, I take it that you have not read the Rules of Conduct.

1. - 17.You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars 2 and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars 2.

1. - 20.You may not use any third-party program (such as a “bot”) in order to automate gameplay functions, including playing, chatting, interacting, or gathering gold or items within Guild Wars 2. You may not assist, relay, or store gold or items for other players who are using these processes.

By setting your character up to automatically target and attack enemies while you are not actively playing the game, that could be considered using a bot-feature and/or exploiting a “bug” or function of the game.

When you set up a character to automatically target and attack enemies while you are not at the computer, you are essentially “farming”. Therefore, ArenaNet could consider this botting behavoir and would be well witin their rights to terminate your account. The function does not need to be fixed, the player behavior does. The game is meant to be played while you are actively at the controls, not but taking advantage on a function or feature within the game to automate something for you.

So, you activated this feature… then went away for a while while you stood in one spot as mobs spawned and got busted exploiting a spawn point.

Now you thought coming to these forums and posting would gain the support of this community?

Auto attack function is to enable active players to attack easier while kiting around. Yes RMT are abusing this by AFKing near event spots. Anet must have some mechanics to auto detect this, so I’m not surprised by your banning. However, they also have access to logs, and can see what you were doing, for how long, and what the profit was (coins, items, xp, etc.) Submitting a ticket is your best bet to getting back in, since you can argue your merits directly with Anet, and not random public in the forums.
