AppHangB1 on launch
Hello Magmarrax,
Could you please attach a Game Advisor report to this thread so we can look into this issue further? You can find the Game Advisor report through the link below:

Thanks for the report. It looks like your drivers are fairly old as they’re from 2009. I would definitely recommend updating to the newest drivers, preferably through a clean installation.
I have located the most updated drivers for your graphics card for you: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-301.42-whql-driver.html
Please try updating your drivers to see if this has any affect on the issue.
(this post is from my iPod)
I did as you instructed and mid-installation my monitor blackscreened, my monitor entered power save mode and now I can’t do anything. The whole thing isn’t crashed though, as i’m still talking to my friends through Mumble just fine.
Hi Magmarrax – That doesn’t sound good… did you install the drivers directly from the link or were you attempting a clean installation? Those should be the correct drivers for your graphics card and operating system so I’m not sure why you would encounter a black screen.
You may need to uninstall the previous drivers while in Safe Mode and then run Nvidia’s auto-detect feature to locate the drivers for you: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
You will want to select “Option 2.”
I restarted my computer via manual means, and now it loads up fine, must’ve just been a glitch. However, my GW2 Launcher now tells me “Hardware issues detected. Click here for details.” which wasn’t there before. When I click it, what can be seen in the screenshot attached is shown. Care to shed some light on this?
Also: the game runs fine for now, i’ll say if it crashes.
Hi Magmarrax – There have been some issues with the most recent Nvidia drivers and so the Launcher will give you this error message until you install the Beta drivers listed. This is completely at your own discretion – you do not have to install the Beta drivers if you do not wish to, however, just know that that particular error message will be there until you do.
I personally do not use the Beta drivers on my home machine, and I have this error message every time I start up the client but I haven’t (yet) had any issues using the non-beta drivers.
So far: the game hasn’t crashed yet, and my frames have improved quite a bit. In Fireheart Rise before I had about 30-40fps, now it’s about 40-60fps. Of course, this is on lowest due to my weaker graphics card, but i’ll be upgrading to a GTX 550 Ti later next month, and getting a new PSU to go with it. Do you have a rough benchmark on how well that would be able to run GW2?
I can’t say for certain… I do know that quite a few players have experienced all sorts of crash issues with that particular card and I personally would not recommend it although I cannot recommend what you should get specifically.
I can only say that before upgrading to a more powerful card that you will want to also look into upgrading your processor, motherboard, and memory otherwise you will create a bottleneck for the rest of your system. In addition, you will need to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system and may even need to look into a higher wattage power supply to handle all the new hardware.
Unfortunately simply updating your graphics card will not give you better performance in the long run since other components will need to be upgraded as well for balance.
A day later and the crashes have returned. ;/
Also: I tried to update my drivers to 304.79 Beta and the nVidia installer told me that isn’t even compatible with my pc.
