Guild Wars 2

Since the update today, the client on my Mac will not run. It appeared to download files, the stopped working.
I removed the game and tried reloading the client from the website and got the same results.
Anyone else having problems with the update?

I’m having the exact same issue. Tried everything in the forums and still nothing. Very frustrating as it was directly related to after a new build completed and restarted the game.

Here the game dont even start…he just show me the dot underthe app nothink else

GXR, I’m in the same boat and I’ve tried pretty much all the standard things. Not sure if this is my computer or an ANET thing…me thinks it’s the ANET.

Same thing here. If you right-click the icon and “Show Window” you’ll see an outline of a window, teasing you with its ghostly corpus. Since I completely nuked everything, I look forward to hours of ‘Progress Quest’ as the files download.

Man, I was looking forward to this update and now I can’t even load the client.

can confirm here, mac client opens, and shows that it’s using some cpu, but it won’t actually show me the launcher or do anything

My Apple version does not start at all. Just shows the dot under the icon. No screen nothing.

Found a fix that a worked for me I think. I am patching now anyways.

Go to your GW2 application. Right-click and choose “Show Package Contents”
Navigate Contents → Resources → transgaming → c_drive → GW2
Rename gw2.exe to oldgw2.exe
Rename gw2.tmp to gw2.exe.
Launch GW2.

SOLUTION:

Go to your GW2 application. Right-click and choose “Show Package Contents”
Navigate Contents -> Resources -> transgaming -> c_drive -> GW2
Rename gw2.exe to oldgw2.exe
Rename gw2.tmp to gw2.exe.
Launch GW2.

The launcher will start and will begin the download. I’m downloading now.

Edit: The fix persists through multiple launches.

Thanks that worked. I wonder if Anet actually tests their updates on Macs before they release them. It seems doubtful.

renaming .tmp to .exe worked for me on OSX El Capitan, thanks!

Had totally forgotten about this fix. I had the same problem earlier this year and it helped me then too.

It’s shameful how they they treat macs.
