Dear ArenaNet,

I have a question inregards to how purchasing gems work in gw2.

A recent transaction for gems had been purchased via CC, but a week later the owner of the card had reversed the transaction not knowing why that transaction had been made.
ArenaNet’s system detected that and proceeded to terminating that account on first offense without a single warning.

My question is, how long does it take for ArenaNet to receive the transaction reversal? The credit card company said the funds had already been returned but just waiting on ArenaNet to “collect” said amount.

Does this process usually take three+ weeks long to complete?

It all depends on the situation, and the card merchants involved. Banks usually process card transactions within 3 business days, so if a chargeback was done, Anet would have had to pay back the merchant at that point.

Now as for terminations, there was already a warning in the User Agreement. Any account hit with a chargeback is perma-banned, and the credircard and e-mail address blacklisted. This is to prevent future fraudulent transactions. That means you can’t buy a new account and use that same creditcard with Anet, and can’t that same e-mail address to register a new account.

Contact support. I can tell you in the past with NCSoft games, the ONLY instances of charge-reversal account closings being reversed that I know of all involved Paypal.

Credit Card chargebacks are usually related to credit card fraud and are a SERIOUS issues for MMO companies thus the harsh 1-strike rule.
