Arenanet? Why the cold shoulder?
I have the same feeling as the op. Game has become unplayable since the patch on the 26th. I havnt logged in for a few days and thought i would try it out again…and lo and behold its actually worse then before guess its time to find a new mmo such a shame.
GW2 works fine for me and many others since patch.
- delete you local.dat
- clean reinstall
- try a different machine on the same network
- try guesting/moving to another server.
- try gaming vpn services like Battleping or WTFast to work around a bad network node.

Okay tried all that..and still doesn’t work. The game is dying with lag..
Submitted a ticket for this. They would ask you to run test with softwares they will recommend and they will blame your ISP. This game is dying because of poor technical issues
I couldn’t agree with you more. Since the patches of the 26th, the game is unplayable. I just entered a post “I can’t believe”, saying pretty much the same thing. I cannot stay in the game for more than a few minutes before my screen goes black and I have to reboot. I still have sound though. I would not like to think they are doing nothing because only a few players are complaining. When a few complain, there are many more that don’t complain but are experiencing the same problems. If you buy the game, you have a right to play it. My game ran perfectly well before the patches, there has been no changes in my computer, now I cannot play it at all.
Just add me to the list of players that have unplayable lag. If I even get in the game at all I have not simple 3-5 second delay no no no. I have 1-2 MINUTES of delay on talking to npcs or using any skills. I didn’t even think that was possible. I’m on Piken Square EU if someone from Arenanet sees this and finds that information useful at all. As others have said before there is no possible way this is on my end. I have no problems with any other game and I have a computer completely capable of running GW2.
Me and my son have the same issue. Game plays fine in the mornings by 1 o’clock eastern US we start to experience a few seconds of lag and over the course of the next few hours the lag will increase to the point where we can not get past the log in screen. This started around a week ago and has steadily gotten worse over the past few days. Once we get to the point were the game wont load anymore if we wait a hr we can log in but the lag comes back with in seconds and the game is unplayable yet again. At first i thought this was a internet problem on my end. But after trying different internet networks with two different machines in which all other programs work flawlessly, the only program that has this issue is gw2. Now we do live in the US and play on a EU server. Gandara has been or home since release and we have close to 3k hours of game play between the two of us. This is the first lag connection issue we have had besides the occasional Dragon event lag.

I am a bit curious as to everyone’s location. I get lag, IE skills and dodging slow but loading is fast. I’m in Tucson, AZ. I do get disconnected all the time for some reason. I did all I can do on my end but still get disconnected.
After checking connections I noticed that port 443 is no longer listed as being used by Gw2.EXE only port 6112. I remember it used to be listed as established when doing a netstat -a -n -b

Try the above suggestion that was posted and soon buried among all the text in the Network Lag [Merged] thread. The lag is from Anet using a default port that is popular to throttle (limited bandwidth) by many ISP’s. By forcing GW2 to run on a standard TCP/HTTP port you bypass the throttling that no ISP would dare mess with without getting a massive amount of complaints from regular surfers.
I went from several seconds of skill lag to no lag at all with that little trick.
Thank you Gambit, this did get me back into game. still have a 1 to 2 sec lag and random dc every once in awhile but I’m off the log in screen. Thanks again Gambit.
Great find Gambit and I hear it works for some people, unfortunately it did not work for me. I have a fiber pipe with no blocked ports, shaping or throttling.
