Because ascended armor is account bound. Your ranger can open a chest of heavy armor and then pass it on to a warrior, guardian, or revenant.

That is stupid and you can easily make the mistake. Why just giving you the option by giving you the armor type your class need or if you need that piece of armor for a other caracter, passing the chest to him instead? Seriously Iam sad, what I will doing with a heavy armor piece with my ranger?

Then make support ticket and ask for fix like explain before. Only thing can do to see if can fix you mistake.
I made the ticket the second I saw it was the wrong armor type, no respond from them… :/

If you used the in-game Bug Report to make a ‘ticket’, you will garner no response as stated on the Bug Report window.
For an individualized response, you can contact the CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Request’ for assistance.
If you have done that, and not received the automated reply, you can peruse the Sticky, above, regarding missing emails.

They don’t restrict it to armor type of the character who opened the box, because people make mistakes and open boxes on the wrong character. You’d go from “I chose the wrong armor” to “I opened the box on the wrong character”.

Then the same can be said to you, you picked the wrong armor type. You are talking yourself in circles. The ONLY option you have is to make a support ticket and see if they can help.

Exactly. So why spend money when it doesn’t solve the problem?
The problem for most players in your situation is not being careful. ANet can’t solve that problem. The most they can do is ask if you’re sure. If they don’t have that question on that box, then they should add it just to slow people down just a bit. But they’ll never get it to where no one makes a mistake due to going too fast or being careless. Your solution doesn’t solve the problem.
I need that piece but I made a mistake so I am asking a answer, I did a ticket and no answer in return so I ask a dev to answer my request in private/in-game or the forum but I inspect a answer.

And how long has it been since you got the automated response back?
If it’s been under 72 hours, support is still within the time frame they give themselves for responding. Be patient.
If you haven’t received the automated response, see the stick thread up top for a link a to a thread on what to do.
If it has been more than 72 hours, you may post in the sticky thread above concerning Tickets for Review.
We on the forums can’t magically press a button to switch the armors. You’ve made a ticket, which is the only thing we on the forums can tell you to do. All a dev would say is to make a ticket. Which you’ve done. You’ve gotten all of the answers that you can off of the forum unless your ticket has been left unanswered for more than 72 hours. In which case, only posting your ticket number in the stickied thread will help.

The fact you didn’t take a moment’s care to check what you were selecting doesn’t make it a ‘stupid’ system, the stupidity I would suggest is not at the game’s end of the interaction.
