Hey friends.
For the last few weeks now the great beast of ‘more awful than usual australian ping’ has reared it’s ugly head again. For a long, long time now there are plenty of us who go through these lovely periods where our ping is anywhere from 100 – 200 higher than the average (which is still over 200 at its best) that we’ve come to love and miss greatly during these times. My ping is usually 206 – 210, now it is anywhere from 330 – 390 depending on the time of day.
The upsetting thing is this one’s been going on for much longer than any previous ones; boy am I glad I finished all I set out to do in the PvP league this season before it set in. It always seems to be having a lot more spikes up to 600, 700, etc than previous ones, or maybe I’m just watching it closer. I just hope it’s not going to still be a problem when the next league shows up.
Now this doesn’t apply to all Aussies. It seems to be pretty common to those who have Telstra as their ISP. I’ve contacted them and they have told me that my connection appears fine to them on their end. I have no problems with other websites or games except Gw2 and Gw2 related websites.
So, hand up if you’ve been struggling or weeks now with this god awful rubberbanding business, occasionally shadowstepping to where you shadowstepped from, and other assorted high ping nonsense and let’s hug it out.
No but really, I’d like to hear if others are having the same issues and if there’s anything that can be done. I asked a few people in LA a few days ago and several seemed to be having the same issues so once again I’m guessing it isn’t just me. The game is getting to the point of being unplayable during aussie prime time.
Hi,
There is an issue, because my latency fluctuates from 300-700 ping and times out periodically (constant ping to server and time outs are registered).
This started for me about 2 weeks ago.
I use Telstra cable 100MB. No latency issue with other online games internationally.
I hear you, I was getting 220 ping base 2 months ago, now I’m sitting at 400 base line and fluctuates with spikes up to 2k.
Frustrating as hell when you’re so close to nevermore and trying to do adventures for mastery points like “A Fungus among us” and missing platforms completely.
Hi,
Yeah, I’ve got terrible ping and also get code=7:11:3:191:101 crashes. We’ve got third world internet systems in Australia and the NBN package is an absolute farce. Yeah, I blame the government for my crappy internet connect. Also using Telstra.
So, hand up if you’ve been struggling or weeks now with this god awful rubberbanding business, occasionally shadowstepping to where you shadowstepped from, and other assorted high ping nonsense and let’s hug it out.
(Raises hand)
Been struggling with it for the past few weeks- have so far resisted the great temptation to throw my pc out the window……..
Yikes, it’s been horrible eh. It’s not even the higher latency that is the worst part for me lately, it is the spiking up to 600, 700,…., sometimes 1200 ping. It’s ridiculous and I hope it’s better by the next pvp season.
Unfortunately I think it’s a problem with telstraglobal.net and not Anet.
I’ve been having much of the same. My ping on.. another game that’s based in the US – it has its servers in CA – is around the 190-200 mark, but on GW2 my ping is well over the 400 mark. Usually my GW2 ping is 220ish, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.
Pingtest.net is giving some weird results; pinging to their SF, CA server is fine (170ish iirc), but the LA, CA server is having spikes, and you can straight up forget about Dallas.
Also on Telstra…
I don’t want to get my hopes up, but just now logging in checking the TP before bed, my ping is down to 220 for the first time in weeks. Here’s hoping it’s not a temporary relief ;_;
