Hi, i bought GW2 on release and played it for a good 2-3 months solid, got my character to 80, got a bit bored, slowly stopped playing. Recently decided to pick the game back up and try out a different class. So i login to my account and see my home server has changed. I was on Ring of Fire when i last logged in. Now i logged in after like a 4 month break and i have been moved onto Fort Ranik [FR]. Which is a medium population french server.

Now i am not french and don’t understand anything anyone is saying in global chat, and the reason i moved onto Ring of Fire is because all my friends who i play with are on that server. No problem i thought, i’ll just re-transfer. Now i see if i want to do that i have to pay 1000 gems to get my account back the way it was the last time i logged in. Why have i been moved servers without me approving it…. WTF guys seriously?

As Gaile Gray stated in this thread. There was no moving of accounts or characters. So as i advised before: change your password ASAP, you were probably hacked.

Hmm very strange. I did change my password but i have email authentication on my account and have not received nor allowed any login attempts during my in-activity. Also my 3 characters are still there with all their gear intact. So aside from paying 1000 gems there is nothing i can do?

Yeah I suggest talking to customer support about being hacked and getting moved back to the correct location. At worst you could play the game and save up $20 worth of gems by using gold to gem exchange (that’s probably going to take a while).

While you’re waiting for this to happen, you can guest on Ring of Fire to keep playing with your friends. This is an option from the same screen you use to do world transfers from. (Major drawback of doing this is no WvW with your friends. You can only do WvW on your home server.)

Keep in mind that if you were hacked, or if there was some odd thing that happened with your account, if they are able to help you it will probably be with some kind of rollback. If that is the case, anything you’ve done since picking the game back up will be erased.

Hope it all works out for you.
