Did something change? There have been no patches, my system is exactly the same as it was yesterday, yet I have noticed a significant drop in performance, so much so that the game is bordering on unplayable. Other people have noticed a noticeable drop in performance. I have never had ANY performance problems at all, in any zones, areas etc… and I’ve been running with everything on max since the game launched.
So have aNet changed something and not told us?

Done some more testing and something has definitely changed, even on the lowest graphics settings the game is jerking around and laggy. It has never done this before.

where – have you experienced change in performance.
when – was the time you feel the change.
what – did you do to counter the problem. ie. settings

I just put a support ticket in for the same reason, all of a sudden the game is sluggish to the point i cant play, when i logged back in earlier after my “go and chill” i noticed a candy corn node suddenly appear and disappear (my go and chill didnt mean i took anything exotic btw). There are moments when it feels like everything is in slow motion and the sounds also keeps freezing.
Where – was in Orr wen i noticed candy corn node, it deff feels worse in Orr, tho still laggy when i was in Lonars
When – Slowly been getting worse over the last couple of days
What – checked the performance out on my PC. everything says is fine.(I have no clue about PC’s my partner looked at it for me) I also went and logged into Aion just to see if it was my PC.. Aion is fine. Also logged into GW1 and everything fine there too. Its just GW2 that is having issues.

I am having the same issue now to the point of it being unplayable…repeated disconnects, but still pulling 20Mbps from three servers across the country on speedtest.net
btw, located in Virginia and on Cox cable internet

list your spec.

The change in performance is noticeable in all areas, regardless of their population. I have tested the starting areas, Lions Arch, random other maps, different characters WvW Maps, all the same weird performance decrease.
This is not a spec issue, nor has anything changed on my system, this was running perfectly up until today. My spec is as follows:
Windows 7 64 bit
Amd Phenom x4 965 BE (Water Cooled CPU)
ATI HIS Radeon 6950 (Latest drivers, even tested with new beta driver release)
8 Gb Crucial Ballistix Ram
OS + GW2 Running off SSD
There have been no updates, support packs, hotfixes installed onto my system, so logically thinking….arena net must have changed something on their servers or done some kind of code update to introduce performance problems.
I have changed multiple in game settings to see if there is an improvement, but there is still a massively noticeable frame rate drop at all setting levels, it is very, very strange.

not surprising. try overclock, get rid of core park of your processor.
heck, even borrow an Sandy or Ivy- i5 if you’re so desperate.
my points is, Intel processor performs better when it comes to net games where large crowd is involved.

Candy corn has been popping in and out all week. Many folks on Aspenwood are seeing it also.

Yeah.. since Thursdays patch the candycorn is randomly popping in and out both visually and on the mini map (showing a “mining node of it” at the same time then also blinking out). The biggest “lag” I am getting though is at the two dragon fights, with Jormag being the worst. I have not WvW’d though since last Thursdays patch to test that yet.

It has nothing to do with my processor, did you even read my original post? The game was performing FINE up until today, I had no lag, no FPS drop, I’ve been running the same settings since early beta with no problems. Just last week I was running fraps to record WvW, now I can barely even play WvW. Something has changed somewhere within anet’s game…
I did not ask for a CPU recommendation from an Intel fanboi.

i just respect Intel for performing better in terms of massive player clashing, aka WvWvW. no mean to disrespect AMD in any ways.

Ppl overestimate intel CPUs, personally i own both platforms, i have a phenomIIx6@4ghz and a I7 2600k@4.5ghz both running paired with AMDs 7950s i can tell u difference in WvW is probably just arround 30%, when P2 gets 15 FPS intel gets arround 22, a huge improvment! Game engine just suck that is the only truth about GW2 performance. Nevertheless u should try check with GPU-z if ur PCI slot is running at x16, GW2 uses a lot bandwith. Try download MSI afterburner, and check Videocard graphs while running the game and post a screenshot here along with the CPUz main screen.

To try detect where the problem might be do this:
1. Download and install MSI afterburner and GPU-z.
2. Run the game windowed mode 1024*768 res, standing on Lion’s arch, open the option menu /graphics, so we can see the graphic ootions u are running at and the FPS counter.
3. While still running the game on the background, run MSI afterburner and GPU-z wait for 1 or 2 min, check afterburner graphs, and take a screenshot with the 3 programs running at the same time and post it here.
