Hey, I’ve recently been having BSoD’s when playing GW2. More specifically, the game will patch [if needed], load, and then place me into the game. Shortly after that, I get a BSoD with

STOP code: 0×00000116
STOP code: 0×0000006B

EDIT: I’ve just uninstalled the game, deciding whether or not to reinstall yet, or take the laptop to the repair shop, but I don’t know how long it’d take to get the system fixed if it was needed… I just got back into the game after a couple months break.

Also, I don’t receive BSoDs when playing Team Fortress 2 or League of Legends, only when playing Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.

Check out this: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-stop-0x0000006b-process1_initialization_failed-blue-screen

More then likely it’s a driver error causing this conflict.
Are you using an Nvidia card?
Did you recently do update drivers?
What version of windows are you using?

Yeah, try to do a driver roll back.
(Start> right click computer> manage [needs administrator access]> select display adapters> select video card> Right click> properties> driver tab> click roll back driver)

This should fix it, if the drivers are indeed at fault

Alright I’ll try that and see if it works
Also, would you happen to know how to perform a full system restore to factory settings and/or clean install windows 7?

Note: I don’t have windows 7 on cd or usb drive, all I have is the product key, my system came with windows pre installed.

You should be able to get it from here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-7-home-premium-32bit-iso/805d41ac-8580-422e-abaf-6cd6968b50de

and just use your product key. (this is from microsoft so it’s not a pirated copy or anything)

After burning it, you should be able to do a system repair if you boot from the CD, or re-install as needed.

Also for a system restore try this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

P.S.
If the roll back works, it’s still be a good idea to have the discs on hand just in case something really bad happens later down the road

Haha, you’re really awesome for taking the time to help me
I’ll have to go to the store to get some blank discs for the Windows. That was really useful info.

Is there a way to figure out if the error is caused due to hardware malfunction, such as video card, hard drive, etc?

You’d have to use the event viewer, and google the result if it doesn’t explain what exactly the error was in the viewer.

And thank you! I got my A+ certification for a reason, just glad to be able to use it

Also if it was a hardware issue it would give an error upon booting, and give a notification within windows as well. It also wouldnt work with other programs, and give the same error.

P.S.
Did the driver roll back work?

Its helpful to post what did or didnt work so others who have the same issues can get it resolved as well

Rolling back the drivers now. How many times should I roll back? Until the game functions without BSoD?

Well, so far so good! I rolled back both my Intel HD Graphics 4000 and the NVidia GeForce 675M, not getting a BSoD [yet]. Hopefully I never get one lol!

Is it ok to not update my drivers?

Alright, after about 20 minutes of playing GW2, I received another BSoD.
This time, as soon as I login and click PLAY, the game crashes and I get a BSoD

Updating drivers isn’t bad, but sometimes, especially with new drivers, not all the bugs are worked out and results in crashes and not working. That’s why they have the roll back option. I personally don’t generally update my drivers unless I have a reason to. Like an update for my card that included more support for GW2 specifically Thats just me though.

If you go to computer > manage > display adapters > driver tab > properties > It should give you a version number

It says : 9.18.13.4411
But that’s the one that’s currently installing, just released today I believe.
I uninstalled the device and all its drivers completely, and immediately after doing so, my system began installing it and restarted itself, after I clicked Restart Now.
It’s currently installing the new driver

go also try to go to the Nvidia web site and download and manually install an older version if that one still gives you trouble.
