Bad fps in crowded areas
What motherboard do you have and try it running just 1 card but a steady 60FPS in this game is not really doable.
Motherboard is msi z68 gd65 G3, latest bios update. (Same fps with old bios that supports ivy bridge)
I also tried running with one card only, and the fps just worsen.
Also, as i was reading, the engine seems to have bad optimizations, is that right?
Welcome to GW2
:/. It could be so much better…. kitten fps
I use 3570k @4.2 & GTX 660.
using best appearance setting
Sylvari Grove — stable 60FPS
Lion Arch — 40-60FPS
- check PCI-E bus speeds
- check CPU temp, maybe you are being throttled. 4.7 is a high OC.

The oc is high, but the temp aren’t. I’m monitoring them on my second screen. They’re about 40-50 celcius in crowded areas.
As for the PCI-E Bus speeds, what do you mean? 16x PCI3 GEN or you mean the raw bandwidth per sec?
I’ll still verify the PCI-E bus speeds to be sure
(edited by Zaedas.2047)
People had issues where their bus speed was stuck using 1x, doesn’t hurt to check via gpuz
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Just confirmed that both run at PCI gen 3 spec, one at 16x and the other at 8×.
Try downclocking ur gpu’s .. GW2 can be picky with GPU OC’s.
Is ur CPU OC stable and error free using Prime 95 6hours+ ? It could potentialy be (though unlikely) cpu error’s caused by the OC causing the slow down.
Try setting reflection to terrain and sky. Full reflections has a bug in some areas with GW2 atm, causing relfection on underground liquids to be rendered when they shouldnt.

Since you’re using a i7 with, are your cores parking?

When ur cpu is that strong core parking has little affect .. i have mine parking and dont notice it :P

I’ll try to bring down the OC to stock values (on my GPUs).
I’m prime95 blend test stable @ 24 hours, and i’m able to pass 50 iterations of IBT, max setting.
I’ll also try to put reflection to terrain and sky only.
~ I’ll give results soon.
Even if i deactivate the reflection and that i bring done the OC on the SLI, i still have 20~30 fps in lion arch, 40~60 in salvary’s grove
Are ur Nvidia Control panel options set to application controlled on the Antialaising ?
If so then only other thing i can sugest is u downgrade ur grpahics drivers to 306.97 ..sincei have seen people have some issues wiht the 310.XX drivers.
I personaly run the 306.97 drivers so i can confirm they work fine
Oh and one other thing. Are u using Windows 7 64bit or Windows 8 64bt ?

Antialaising are set on application controlled.
I guess i have no choice and that i’ll have to install 306.97 :/.
I use W7 64 bits.
P.S : I just had a hude fight against the blood witch with 25 + people, and there was no lag at all. Same thing for Hita… Something, the centaur guy. Again, alot of the stuff going on the screen, yet i’ve never lost a single fps. I guess it’s only a fews areas that bug my system :/
LA is a PITA anyway, i mean i never drop below 30fps .so i still think somthing is amiss there. As for the Grove .. i cant recall my FPS but i never recall having any issues.. and im not on GW2 today to check as im helping out on the Tech support forum during my intervals between MechWarrior Online battles :P
Anyway hopefully the divers will sort it.

Well, it would seems that disabling core parking did help Oo. I’ll be honest here i didn’t know this and i’ve been on computers since the age of 10!
That’s truly amazing. Salvary’s grove is now stable at 55~60fps.
Although, Lion’s arch is still laggy a 25-30 fps.
I’ll try to couple this finding with drivers 306.97 from nvidia and see what it does
.
Thanks for everyone who commented here!
Well core parking is sorta new thing with intel so you wouldn’t know about it at age 10 lol. Alternatively, you can disable HT or assign specific cores to GW2 instead of disabling coreparking.
But looks like it works now as should be for you. Sylvari grove @60fps and LA is just a mess depending on where and when.

I don’t really want to disable HT because i do some video encoding + some photoshop.
And agreed for LA and sylvari grove!
Hello
Heres a great utility that I found that will disable core parking without having to mess around with the registry yourself
http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility
After your run it, check status, and unpark, be sure and reboot
thanks sartori, but i already found a tool for it
