I was just banned for 71 hours, and I don’t know why…. It says “innapropriate language” But I don’t recall ever insulting anybody. I’d like to at least know why I was banned or hopefully appeal my case to an Arena Net employee for an unban. 3 days is a long time to wait for a great new game all because of… well I don’t know!

From what I gather you get banned for pathetic reasons, the suspensions for language are so childish, we aren’t in a primary school

You won’t get your account back faster than that. People have had their account hacked for more than a week and still don’t have them back. I agree that the banning system is childish. It’s too extreme and they are banning indiscriminately. They can afford to with millions of players. Who will care about the 11k without their accounts, when 2 million can access the game fine? No one.

They don’t even have an appeal system, nor do they send emails describing the exact infraction. Do they even read these forums?

They’ve been posting reasons in this reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/yxx3m/suspensions_for_offensive_names_and_inappropriate/

Also agree that childish banning is childish. I’m glad they are keeping kitten and trolls out of my game, but when I have to stop and think about whether or not I should even say anything to someone because I could get banned for it, I might as well move to North Korea. Racism should not be tolerated, but if i wanna tell someone they suck harder than my vacuum cleaner, when that is the truth, I should be able to do that.

Well I’ve tried that and now I can’t find the post I made. Besides, all those posts seem to be from 11 days ago. Unless I’m reading it wrong, I don’t use Reddit. In fact, I made an account just now for that.

If u read the ULA, it says they dont have to explain why they ban a player.

If I had to take a guess, I’d say that fewer than 5 people out of 100 really don’t know why they got a suspension for language. It’s not effective for us to spend time chasing after “I didn’t do it” with “Oh, yes, you did, and here’s precisely what you said” for an indefinite period.

The Reddit post served an excellent purpose, and we kept that up to date for several days. In the end, it was clear to anyone with half a brain that the language that was actioned truly was offensive, and the players thus suspended truly did deserve that brief time-out.

As we’ve explained, unless someone engages in really bad language on a repeated basis, slips of the tongue are forgiven, and breaches beyond that do not result in “bans.” Repeated violations may result in termination, but that’s very, very rare. The suspension serves as a warning, and they help make it clear that we intend to, and will, keep the Guild Wars 2 game world pleasant and welcoming for everyone.
