Maybe this is not the appropriate forum for this, but it seems to be the logical place to put it. If it is not, please move the post. I am just curious about how many people who were banned that claim innocence. Obviously some people are lying, but how many people are claiming they are not botting and are banned? This would be a good way to get an idea of how many people are in the “line” and just how serious this issue is. Please only make one post if you can, that way we can just match the post count with the number of bans.
This also is reassuring to those of us who are innocent because it makes us more comfortable that so many people are in the same boat.
Can I suggest we also post the ban type/date? In my case it happened at before 9 AM on Saturday morning (GMT+10) and my account was “permanently closed” with error code 45:6:3:2114 (botting accusation).
5 guildmates banned for the same thing (botting when they are just only farming in Orr). 4 of them already got their accounts back, while the last one is still waiting for the support’s assistance. Yep, there’s something wrong with the system. 5 people accused for botting, 4 proved ANet made a mistake.
Banned about 9pm EST 11/10 while sitting at a view point in Harathi Highlands, went afk and came back to the bot ban message, my husband was playing with me, he got the ban at the same time & place.
I was also in Harathi highlands around 9pm EST and was hit by the ban sweep. I was only logged in for about 2 hours at the time and was only in the Highlands for about 40 minutes of that time. Innocents getting caught up? YES. Investigative Banning? NO. It certainly looks and feels like random highlighting and trigger pulling from incompetent employees.
Banned around 10 PM CST on 11/08 for botting and was currently at frost gorge I think. Game just blacked out and tried to log back in to get hit with the termination notice.
Just really dislike how this is being handled. All my years of online gaming I’ve yet to encountered a problem like this. Makes me kind of cautious to purchase GEM cards or whatever they’re called if they ever decide to permanently close my account.
Recommended this game to my nephew but if this continues I think I’ll tell him otherwise…Honestly I think this is a great game, but poor choices. Like we shouldn’t be afraid to party up with people or go farming. I thought this was going to be a community friendly game but now I’m afraid to even party or go along with anyone to do events in fear of being banned.
Tried to log in last night and was notified I was banned for botting. Only thing I did that day was WvW with a guildmate and run a few paths of Ascalon Catacombs. I mostly run dungeons and I’ve only been completing zones for experience and personal story progression on < lvl 80 characters. I don’t farm events or mobs for materials or karma. I report players only if they are obviously bots and observing them for a few minutes (same pathing pattern, usually groups of rangers). If this reporting is only contributing to these sweeping bans affecting legitimate players such as the ones here and myself I will cease to report bots.
This is bull, I just got banned at 9:50pm EST nov 10 2012. I was in the middle of doing a event and the game crashes, with some error I forgot to write it down. I log back in with a message saying I was terminated for botting
Dont rmb what time probably 8-9 centralish. At the time I was doing jumping puzzles with a guildie. Earlier in the day was trying to farm for lodestones for Twilight since the drop rate is kitten and only way to farm them is kill earth eles or suffer through TA.

Unjustly and erroneously banned around 8:30 to 9:00 pm on 11/08 for botting. I’ve been waiting about 50 hours now. No contact from ANet since reported.
I was banned for “botting” on Sanctum of Rall this morning at about 11:30 EST. Similar story as to everyone else here, I was in the middle of the Grenth event chain when it happened. I’m very disappointed in AreaNet with this entire situation. Whatever happened to messaging a player who is apparently a bot? We had better get a nice “We’re sorry for screwing up” gift as a result of this careless and unprofessional mistake.
Yep, game kicked me out when i had just “dinged” level 80 in cursed shore. Was all ready to celebrate when wham, bam, thank ya arenanet – kicked out and received the same bot error as everyone here. Funny thing is that I have been reading these forums to keep busy for the last 2 days after i created my ticket on Friday at 12:00am, and the amount of people that say that we are all probably botters, disturbs me. I really, really hope that those people (saying we are all bots) get falsely banned as well so that they can waste their time reading the forums, waiting for an email, and not having the enjoyment of playing a game that We payed for. This game is so easy to level up in and make relatively ok gold that I am not sure why anyone would need a program to level up their characters for them, that’s just plain laziness. I miss checking out the awesome scenery, the great combat system, discovering new and exciting stuff. The game is truly amazing in comparison to the 10+ years i have been playing other mmos, its just too bad that this entire disaster is tainting my view of the game and the company that runs it. Can you really blame these people who believe we are botters? I mean, before this actually happened to me, on other MMOs that I’ve played, when someone complains on a forum saying they were falsely banned for botting, the first thing that would come to my mind is “falsely? yeah right”. Now I’m not saying all of us here are innocents, I’m pretty sure there’s alot posting here have actually used bots and they’re just riding along with this “falsely banned” wave of players.

see I’ve been wondering, because my password did not change, I doubt someone hacked me and botted on my account. This then means that perhaps my activities were being tracked or I was wrongfully reported. If arena was actually monitoring my activities, then they would know I was not botting. Then, I realized I was playing WvW all morning. I’m on server Maguuma, and well we kinda siege camped emhry bay. What if someone got really mad and acted out by reporting people, and arena didnt bother checking if we we’re actually botting or not 0.0?
Banned Thursday night about 9PST, plinx event. As ive said in other threads, show them this is unacceptable. Talk with your wallets, do not give them any money through the gem store when you get reinstated after all with their ridicoulous bot detecting program you may even lose what you paid for out of the gem store. Imagine losing your legendary you worked so hard for because of a false botting ban. Walk away from this game, thats what im doing.
Banned for an “Account issue” three days ago. No idea what this is all about. Love the game so far but this is rediculous! Got an email asking for my product key, and another one saying they are investigating it. That was a day ago. From what I see here, happening to a lot of folks. Their inboxes must be exploding
What has occurred is a multistage ban (from what i read there was a glitch as well on friday that banned some people). They also banned a large number of people who recieved massive bot reports from people. So if you were banned people in mass numbers reported you (or you were hit by the glitch). They reversed the glitch i read. So if you are having issues logging in still then you were accussed by many people of botting.

Bought the game on thursday, got banned on saturday(10/11). I wanted to log on in the evening to play a little but I got the “your account is suspended” message. Last thing I did was trying to lvl my baby warrior in the morning…

Falsely accused and banned for “botting – Account closure permanent” (Error 45:6:3:2114), can’t precise the time right because it was after I went to bed in 11/9 friday 11.30pm (gmt +0) and when I came back to start playing the next morning about 7am (gmt +0) Saturday 11/10 I was already banned. I was in Black Citadel the last time I logout and had been in group in Diessa Plateau the last hour or so doing the events there with my husband and a friend (their accounts are fine, only mine was “terminated”).
Support ticket number: #121110-000834 sent more than 24 hours ago. Still no answer.

And what to do?
While we understand the frustration this can cause and that knowing that “you are not the only one with that problem” can ease some of that frustration, this thread does not binrg constructive material to the froums and thus we are closing it.
