at around 12am +8gmt today, i was in the mad kings realm and fell asleep while my character is online and afk there. this was after i took a break doing the clock tower jumping puzzle. i woke up at around 7am +8gmt and my screen has an error code which says something like i did a bad thing etc ( well something like that and i was not able to get a screen shot ). i tried logging in my account and its all good untill i selected my main and clicked on play. it suddenly asks me to change its name before i could continue! its only on my main my alts are not having these problems. what is wrong with it? is this a bug? a pinishment? if it is what did i do wrong? i already sent an email to support but still no reply. this is eating up my time and i only have limited play time on weekdays. instead of enjoying act 3 of the halloween event im stuck waiting for a reply since i do not want to change the name and if ever i did i would like to know why i am forced to do so or it might also be a bug?

It’s because your character’s first name is "Lucifer." I am pretty sure that’s not an allowed name due to the religious connotations, etc. (Naming Policy).
It’s very likely someone could have flagged you when they ran across the name. Not every name or character is going to be seen immediately, so I wouldn’t take the fact that it didn’t happen until today as a sign that it was OK before. It’s more that it wasn’t caught.
For what it’s worth, it’s not a punishment or that you really did anything "bad", it’s just a naming policy issue.
But I am not staff, so I suppose I shouldn’t say that with such conviction. But I am pretty sure. ;)

thanks for your reply, well yes it makes sense. but i would still want to hear their reply/comment on this. i really like the name too bad if i have no other choice than to rename it. this is taking too much of my time i have been waiting for a reply for 5 hours now, you somewhat enlightened me with your post but somehow i am still hoping that is not the case. thanks again, very much appreciated.

You posted late on a Sunday night for the people who work for Arenanet. They are human beings, most of the people who work there have the weekend off and won’t even begin work for several hours because it is currently almost 4 am on Monday morning there. If you live in Europe or Australia or something it can be frustrating, but you need to keep in mind where the people you want to talk to are living.
Based on similar questions others have posted, you can either change the name now, or wait several days for a response and change the name then. “Lucifer” has unpleasant religious associations for many people, and their discomfort outweighs one person who likes the name. Try “Luci” or “Luke” if you want to keep something similar to the name.
But don’t get your hopes up, the name change is in response to someone complaining about it, and it is unlikely to be reversed. Consider yourself lucky the name was not so offensive that a GM changed it for you.
