Hey guys and girls!
Im using a macbook pro 15" early 2011, and i have this weird observation?

When i use everything on low settings i get fps on between 30-40 and a lot of heat!
but when i turn on “best appearance”, and have the settings between medium and high, i still get around 20-25 fps, BUT most importantly i get a lot LESS heat and therefor less fan speed but with better graphics ?
I have also noticed, that when turning window mode on, my fps drops a little but heat drops also! and i can put higher resolution on, with lower heat than fullscreen?

Is there an explanation for this or have any other noticed something similar?

Yes. By increasing to high you’ve created a bottleneck in your system, probably with your GPU. Because your GPU is now taking more time process instructions , the cider engine does not need to feed it instructions as fast. So in short, your CPU utilization goes down and so it’s producing less heat.

But is it not weird that it runs better in window mode, with highest resolution than in fullscreen with lower resolution?

I don’t know what the deal is either. If I have the game running at low settings at full screen, the fans jump up to 6200 rpms and the system is extremely hot. I have SMC fan control but those two fans are working way to hard for something like this. I did do the “Windowed Mode” and the temperature dropped down from 95ºC to 70º – 75ºC…
