Hey Guys,

I’ve been having a problem in my game that whenever I play for around 25 to 30 minutes, my screen goes black and I can’t play anymore. The odd thing is, I see the cursor and I hear the music but my friend told me when I had blackscreened I wan’t moving even when I tried. Could anyone shed some light and help me.

Hey from looking at this log your GFX driver is 314.22

Try updating to the new 331.58 drivers from the Nvidia site, I know its a simple thing but it really could be down to the driver issues, when I updated I stopped crashing completely in game, if your still getting the issue after the update, post again,

I just read your post and i’m downloading the 331.65 drivers, will that be a similar thing as the 331.58?

It should be. I think the 58 are the certified drivers, while the 65 maybe the latest version. Either should work.

I doubt very strongly it’s the drivers fault, I’ve had this problem since April and it’s nothing GPU related and not drivers either as I’ve downloaded a load of different drivers ever since.

Hi there Razorsharp Blade,

While it might not be related, it looks like you’ve only got about 1.4 GB left of free space on your hard drive which could lead to some issues. I’d recommend freeing up some space on your C: drive or moving the client out on your D : drive. If you decide to move the client, I’d also suggest running a repair on the client afterwards and making sure to run as Admin.

It also looks like you’re connecting through a router. Is it at all possible for you to try bypassing the router altogether and connecting directly to your modem via Ethernet cable?

Ashley, did you look at the wrong person? Cause at the moment I have 67GB free on my SSD which I dont store games on and I have 1,72TB on my storage HDD, I have also been talking to the GW2 support about all possible fixes until I thought it was solved but only made me able to play for more than 10 minutes.

Edit: More specifically thought the router settings fixed it.

Doh, you’re right. Second time I’ve done that today. I was originally referring to FuccDogg. Sorry about that Razorsharp Blade! And now a question for you specifically, do you have a crash report that you could attach to the thread or have you created a support ticket at all?

I had a support ticket yes, I do not know if it still exists since I hit the “This answered my question” after I thought it got fixed.

And It’s not really crashing, It just goes black with the music looping and cursor, I can also press f11 for example to get the menu up for graphical options but nothing happens when I do anything. And I’m not 100% sure where to find the crash reports if there are any. But I’m willing to check if there are anything there.

Did you disable the SPI Firewall or have you tried bypassing the router completely? I’d also disable any security software that you may have enabled just in case as well as it seems like a number of things trigger the black screen issue such as the Turbo Boost feature on some CPU’s.

I would definitely send in another support ticket and we can go over everything one on one and see if we can get this resolved for you (again).

I did disable the entire security system for my router yes, which unfortunately didn’t fix it I did disable my Avast as well which didn’t fix it either. I do have the turbo feature from factory settings on my CPU setting I believe.

I’ll get to sending the new support ticket tomorrow as it’s too late and I’m heading off really soon.

And to answer the earlier question, I did try connecting to the modem rather than modem to router to my PC and that did seem to work actually but is no possible solution since I have siblings and others who use the internet daily as well.

I guess I could send in a ticket now with things I have tried and get back to testing other things tomorrow. Unless you can check my previous one.

I couldn’t tell you how to configure your router exactly since a lot of them have different steps to run through in order to do this, but when you configured your router previously was it the SPI Firewall that you disabled? Additionally, do you have another router you might be able to test out? It sounds like this was the core of your issue so it’s unlikely there may be anything else that could be tried. I know certain router models are more problematic than others such as the Netgear D6300 modem/router combo units.

The firewall was disabled by enabling the Default DMZ server since my router does not allow me to disable dos protection (Which it does not have) or the SPI firewall manually and I was in contact with Netgear support and my ISP to ask if any of them could disable it but they said only my ISP could do so cause of special firmware with the router that came with my ISP switch and they told me I could only change it via Default DMZ setting which was classified as over support and I wasn’t allowed to get more help from them.

I have the Netgear EVG-2000 model if that helps you. And no I do unfortunately not have any test routers that I believe will work with my current internet, I do have my old one but I’m not sure if that one is compatible with my new ISP. And with that router I never had this problem and it was a Cisco router not sure which model.

@Razor – did you manage to resolve your issue. Its kinda stupid that this game and only this game is having this kind of problem.

Been having this problem too for more than a few months and I just gave up. Just thought of trying again after I got my whole system replaced and its the same stupid problem.

I’m having a black screen crash, but its because the Graphic card is overheating. If I try to run this game at 1980×1080 the temperature of the card shoots up past 90 c. I think the card shuts down at about 95 c to prevent damage. I think something is fubar in the graphics code. The graphics ain’t THAT spectacular to be causing such heat.

Overheating is always a hardware issue.

In addition to cleaning the fan, I would start by replacing the thermal grease on the graphics card processor (GPU).

“Overheating is always a hardware issue.” Where in the world did you get that? Seriously where did you pick up that tidbit? I can change the temperature of the card simply by changing the game settings. Nothing in the hardware is changing. Simply setting the frame rate to 30 drastically drops the temp. Nothing in the hardware changed.

Where do you get its always a hardware issue?

I get it now. Cards are built to handle their max load. They can’t get anything more than their max load unless you overclock them or something. So where you can change the load on the card, you can’t give it more than the max load unless you overclock it.
I get it now. Thanks.

Yes and no, Yes as in I know what the problem is and how to solve it and no cause I haven’t gotten around to fixing it.

Basically what’s causing it is the router I have, specifically Netgear EVG-2000 and I know also that Netgear 6300 something also has this problem but can solve it with deactivating the SPI firewall + dos protection and port scan

However my router can’t do that as I have no access to WAN setup so I have to buy a new router.
