Brand New rig, still have FPS issues
Anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?
I have a better rig than that by a long shot and i am still having fps issues. its the game.
Chances are its becouse of your CPU.
Where exactly are u getting this ‘bad fps’ other than LA ?
If its in LA, WvW, Large PvE events ..its likely that ur bottlenecked by ur CPU.
In LA as it is now there is more for ur GPU to deal with thanks to wintersday ..what is ur GPU utilization ?

Because of this AMD 3rd gen quad core 4.2ghz CPU
Still the best AMD processor for gaming no longer made but still for sale.
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
People buy AMD processors for a cheaper price thinking more cores and faster clock speed is better but this is the best bang for the buck for gaming.
Intel Core i3-3220 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz
I know it is not my PC. I can run run BF3 at 90FPS on max settings and stream it at 60 just fine. Ive tested this with SWTOR, SCII, Farcry3, skyrim, and many other high end graphic games.
So again can a GW2 dev possibly comment on this please. I understand you guys are trying to help but I know its not my PC.

Meh. Should your PC be able to run GW2 at medium graphics at a steady 60 fps? probably. Will it ever? Probably not. See here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtMZJh0-nVU That system has trouble getting 40 fps in some places in LA on max settings depending on where you are looking.

Bazeleel. The kinda of comment “i know its not my computer becouse i can play X” indicates to me ur not willing ot admit it may well be ur computer, and also shows a lack of understanding of how games differ from one another. Thats the first thing u need to get over.
Second. it is entirly possible that it is ur CPU causing a bottleneck becouse most people understand and accept that AMD cpu’s cannot handle the single thread processes that GW2 runs on without droping below 30 fps in heavily populated areas such as WvW, LA, and big PvE events.
Now there will always be the ‘fanboy’ argument used from both sides of the CPU argument, however those of us who regularly help out in the tech support forum must stay neutral and use the information and statistics that are available to us. With that said, as it stand now there proof that is available shows that All AMD’s suffer with GW2, with only the FX 8350 being able to play all but the most intensive GW2 areas, well. Where as Intel 2nd gen i5’s cpu’s and above can handle All of GW2 if OC’d appropriatly.
Now in ur case it may well not be the CPU thats causing the issue currently ..but we wont know that till you provide the information required.
GPU usage ,CPU usage, CPU & GPU information via CPUID & GPUID or simular software.
With that we can work out whether ur GPU is bottlenecking ..or ur CPU ..or whether there is an issue with the PCIE lanes etc.
